Fifty-One: Scot4949 – Captain Trevithick.
I slowly turned round to find myself staring down the barrel of a gun.
“Sonya, what the hell are you playing at? We have to find who killed Juliet, put the gun away, there is no time to lose!” Judging by the bloodstains on her blouse and skirt, I think Juliet’s killer had just found me. Her eyes had madness about them that I had never noticed before.
“Frank, I fooled you all. It was always my intention to take over Savage’s organisation; you just gave me the right opportunity and if that interfering bitch of an FBI agent had kept her pretty little nose out of it, I might have succeeded. But now, I have to escape and you are going to help me, or, and believe me Frank, I will kill everyone on board.” Oh I believed her all right, from the look in her eyes she was more than capable of carrying out her threat, I just had to find a way to unarm her and lock her up with Clarke.
The distraction came from Ally; she was pounding on my cabin door and calling out for me and as I started to make my way back to the cabin, Sonya told me to stay where I was. I paused for a moment, just long enough to tell her to go to hell and that I was going to see what was wrong with Ally, when without warning, Sweet Dreams keeled over to the port side as Charlie must have taken a sharp turn to the starboard. Unused to this type of manoeuvre, Sonya was thrown off balance and I immediately threw myself on top of her. There was a muffled bang, as the gun went off and I felt a searing pain in my side. What I did not expect was the ricochet, from the steel bulkhead, making a nasty hole in the side of Sonya’s neck and an even bigger one on the other side. Maybe there is a God after all, I thought. The shot had brought everyone running again and I told one of the models to get something to cover Sonya.
My main concern was for Ally, still shouting and crying and locked in my cabin, she sounded terrified, so I unlocked the door and she fell into my arms sobbing,
“Frank, I can’t stand it, being locked away in the cabin like this. I don’t know what Juliet put in the brandy, but mixed with the sedative you gave me, I think I am going round the bend. Let me go with you, please.”
I should have realised that Juliet must have given her something to help lower Ally’s resistance to her sexual approaches. Well, I wanted to believe, that she wouldn’t just jump into bed with any attractive woman who made a pass at her; so I guess my male ego, is as fragile as any other mans. Reluctantly, I agreed to her request and taking her hand, we turned to leave the cabin.
It was then that she noticed I was covered in blood and demanded that I let her examine my wound. I told her that most of the blood was Sonya’s and explained what had happened and how it was her who had killed Juliet. After absorbing this bit of information, she still wanted to see the wound for herself.
