Sunday Dinner

I know that different ethnic backgrounds tend to have the family dinner at a certain time on Sundays. I was wondering how many of us still carry on the tradition of a big Sunday family dinner or do sports for your kids interfere with this concept.

While I was growing up, my family dinner was 1:00PM Sunday afternoon with everyone there including grandparents, no exceptions. Now it is more between 5 and 7 with whomever can attend.

5 pm on Sunday instead of at noon when it was when I was a kid. And we all moved up a generation- parents are now grandparents, etc.

When I was little we used to have them, complete with fights and all! And if we were lucky, we got to see a real fistfight. Thats why I don't associate with many in my family anymore, to much trouble.

Ours were always Friday nights - my dad said we could spend one night together and that was Friday night - after dinner we could go out but we had to be there for dinner.

Between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Sundays, at my sister's. The menu varies; every week someone can pick a favorite.

It's much smaller now, but I think it will continue to the last woman and/or cat.

Mine was always on special Occasions and Holidays..

more family then I want to know at most of then tho..

Did I mention when we get together with my husband's family there's over 40 for dinner - you can't even imagine the noise level.

When I had family at home, we would eat dinner around 6 pm on Sunday's, as I usually needed time to unwind after work before starting dinner. We were all required to sit around the table, no tv and no music.
