SunBurn

silverdine cream is great. Keep it in the frige. I have two jars in there now. Being on the Fire Department i tend to get steam burns every fire and alittle of the cream i'm ready for the one.

Also keep drinking water try and drink at least 64oz to stay well hydrated.

i have been sunburned precisely 3 times in my life.
the first 2 times very mildly - the last time severely.

i now have skin cancer.

any sunburn - even ONCE - can lead to this.

:(

Tomatos.

Sounds odd, but it works!!

Take a few tomatos, slice them open and dab it on - you smell like a salad but no sting, itch or peeling.

i got some aloe plant this morning, it was nice, but still just a pacifer.

went to see the town quack bc hes just as "good" as the hospital a few towns over.

He perscribed me silverdine cream, which works amazingly on real 2nd degree burns, I lathered my back up with a friend of mine. Its still warm, stiff and uncomfortable... but it'll heal the skin really well. I'm putting aloe and vasaline brand creamy aloe goodness on the rest of the not so bad but pink of my skin. Its just the neck line of a tank top on my back that is making me cry.

I "slept" last night by switching off 3 washcloths that i soaked in water and stuck in a ziplock bag and placed in the fridge. As the dull throb woke me up as the cloth got dry/warm ... I would switch it. Happened every 1.5 hrs or so.

Ugh. I miss being a kid and being resiliant to this sort of thing. I wish the rest of my back luck in gaining the tan that this piece of skin is going to fade to lol.

thanks again for all the help everyone. Hopefully after two or three slathering layers of the sliberdine cream, it'll be fine and I wont have to go to the hospital.

The headache faded w/ all the water and advil from yesterday into today. And I'm not too hungry bc of the heat, but I'm not woozy (never really was) just tired.

I wish I could take a nap! hehe

Glad to hear you're feeling better, if not wonderful, my friend. Naps are, indeed, a slice of heaven, so get whatever sleep you can. Wish I was there to help.

Another quickie here.

If you become exhausted easily by being out in the sun, stop by the store before you sunbathe and buy a 6 pack, litre or a container of powdered drink mix like Gatorade. You wouldn't believe how much better you feel if you sip on a glass while you're sunbathing, or down one when you're done. Electrolyte loss can make some people very lethargic. Gatorade takes care of it in about 20 minutes.

Don't forget the sunscreen either. I made the mistake of buying #4 after nine months of no sun - without accounting for the fact that the sun burns you much more quickly if you sunbathe closer to the equator line. While #4 might work for me at home in the North, not so in the South.

Hope you feel better soon, Blue. :rose:

Umm, if you get exhausted while out in the sun do yourself a favor and stay inside. Thats really really bad for you. Most likely your getting cases of sunpoisoning which doesnt feel good at all (it almost feels like your drunk and about to passout). Get out of the sun and do it quick, sunpoisoning can also occur after you get out from under the sun.

I know someone that had the problem with feeling tired all the time in the sun. She ignored it and passed out to the point where her hands clenched up and she couldnt swallow when she woke up. She was lucky it didnt take long for emergency workers to get there. This happened twice, and she fainted 3 more times in the same semester.

Never test yourself in the sun. If you feel faint or thirsty do yourself and the obituary writers a favor and get out of the sun.
