Good God, but this place was a dump! Jake thought as he looked around the small house on Rose Street. It was the end of the school year and Jake was staying in his college town for the summer instead of going back home. He had made the decision at the last minute, of course, and had spent the last day and a half searching for a place to stay, the contents of his dorm room packed into the trunk of his old car.*

When he got to the house, he found the joint to be pretty beat-up. It looked like the regular inhabitants had thrown a few too many parties here. Not that there were broken windows or anything like that, but definitely beer stains on the carpet and flaking paint on the walls. The kid who showed him around was obviously in a hurry to get the fuck out.*

Jake didn't have a choice. He wasn't sleeping in his car all summer! It's just three months, he told himself over and over as he unloaded his things from the car. It was late May in Columbia, Missouri, and at seven o'clock in the morning it was already hot! The tall, athletic young man peeled his shirt off and shook the sweat out of his curly brown hair before carrying another box inside.*

He looked around the house. At least the place didn't have any vermin, and was kind of furnished. There was a refrigerator in the kitchen, a couple couches and a coffee table in the living room, beds in each of the bedrooms. The air conditioning seemed to work. For now. He took the smallest of the three bedrooms, in the back corner of the house.*

Becca grimaced as she walked up the steps on the front porch of the house she'd be staying in for the summer. She'd gotten a really promising job on campus and it started over the summer, and only had a week to find housing and figure things out, so she took one of the few options she had come across. Unfortunately it was a complete dump.

She knocked on the door and was greeted by one of the tenants who was packed and ready to leave by the looks of it. He showed her around the house quickly and gave her the choice between two remaining rooms, saying another sub had taken the back room already. She picked the one bedroom with the fewest stains on the floor and walls.

Her boyfriend Dylan helped her unpack her things before needing to catch a flight home. They hugged goodbye before she walked through the house and went back to her room, leaving the door ajar while she hung up her clothes in the closet.

Ella led the way up the stairs of the rickety front porch of the little house she'd decided to stay at during the summer. She didn't really know the guy helping her, but he'd offered to carry some of her stuff, and who was she to say no to an offer like that? He was some hot frat boy that she had a class with every week and still didn't know his name.

The house was one of the better options near Mizzou that she had found, yet it was still something she would classify as a disgrace. But it was cheap, which meant she'd be able to keep most of the money she made over the summer. She'd just broken up with her boyfriend, too, so being on campus and working at the pool amongst other things could prove to be a fun summer for her "love life."

As she made her way into the house, the guy subletting the three bedrooms met her and showed her where the third bedroom was. She thanked him and put her stuff inside. It was a pretty large room. Besides the holes in some of the walls and a couple stains on the rug, it was an okay room. She set her stuff down and headed out to the truck to get more. It was furnished, thankfully, but she'd bought a mattress to replace the old one. She didn't even want to think about what had been done there.

Ella had no idea who her two roommates were, but she had never had any problem making friends and had never really made any enemies. Guys liked her, girls liked her. Why wouldn't they? She finished setting all her things down, thanking the buff frat boy with a big hug and sending him on his way to let her unpack. She opened the door and cracked one of her windows, wanting to let it ventilate while she started hanging up clothes and putting sheets on her new mattress.

Jake had had his earphones in and iPod running while he got his room all organized in his mildly OCD fashion. A place for everything, and everything in its place. And his D&D books hidden carefully. His belly rumbled after not too long, though, and he realized he was gonna need to make a grocery run.

He opened the door to his room and went out into the hallway and noticed a lot more activity than before! He took the earbuds out and knocked on the first door he came to. "Hey, I'm Jake," he said, and was suddenly shocked to see a rather attractive girl setting up her room!

Ella looked over her shoulder, her red hair piling over her back, as she finished smoothing out her sheets. She pulled her comforter over her bed and set the three pillows she had in a bag on the top of her bed. "Hey, I'm Ella." she said. Her voice was shockingly soft and sensual, considering her bright red hair and flashy blue eyes. "Sorry I didn't come and say hi or anything. Been pretty annoyingly OCD about getting everything set up before I come 'round and introduce myself. Can't stand things being out of place. Obviously." she blushed as she followed his gaze around her room.

Everything was neat now, except for the three still-full boxes in the corner that she had yet to unpack, most of which didn't belong in the bedroom. "I just like things to go where they belong?" she said, shrugging her shoulders.

She turned to actually look at the young man who was standing in her doorway. He was cute. Very cute... "Do you play any sports?" she asked, wondering why he looked so familiar and if she had seen him before.

"Hey, Ella, I'm Jake," Jake said with a smile. "And I know what you mean about getting everything in its place. And yeah, I play soccer. That's why I'm here all summer," he said. He looked at her. "You look familiar, but probably just from passing you on campus or the gym or something."

He heard a bit of unpacking noise down the hall. "Looks like there's one more here, too." He called out down the hall: "Hey, roomie!" he said, and went over and knocked on the door before peaking his head around. "Hey, I'm Jake."

Becca was finishing putting her bras and panties in the dresser when she heart voices and turned at the knock on her door. She set the last few things in the top drawer and turned to the guy standing in the hallway with his head around the door frame.

"Hi Jake, I'm Becca," she responded, introducing herself. "I was about to come see if anyone else was here, but I wanted to finish unpacking first," she explained, blushing when she realized there was still a few bras and pairs of panties sitting on her bed, in full view.

Ella smiled as Jake introduced himself and they chatted about how they might know each other. "Yep, gonna be a long and active summer for me, too." She heard noises from the hall and followed Jake out to see who it was! Their new roommate. Pretty young thing, she thought. Looked like a girl you'd see handing out pamphlets at church. Hopefully she was an inner party girl!

"Hi! I'm Ellla!" She introduced herself to the girl. She peeked into her room, "You lucked out. Musta been here early, huh?" She smiled, "Oh, I have that bra too!" She laughed, realizing Jake was still standing there.

Becca smiled at the girl who popped in the doorway a second after Jake. "Hi Ella, I'm Becca," she said nodding in response to her question, and blushing at the comment about her bra. She quickly grabbed her last few bras and panties and shoved them in her drawer before closing it.

"Are you guys here the whole summer too?" she asked, putting her suitcase under her bed and walking towards her new roommates.

"That's the plan," Jake said, smirking a bit as he watched Becca hastily put away her delicates. He certainly wouldn't mind seeing either of these girls in that bra Ella had pointed out. He had almost laughed at how embarrassed and prude Becca seemed to be, but held that all back.

"Soccer camp all summer with kids," Jake explained, leaning against the doorframe. His phone buzzed suddenly, a text message. It was his (kind of) girlfriend Sarah. He was never really sure just what the status of their relationship was, but they fucked pretty frequently, so he didn't push the issue.

"How's the new place?" Sarah had inquired via text message. Jake shot back a quick: "Ok. Kind of a dump. Roomies seem cool though. When ya coming over?"

"Nice!" Ella exclaimed, "I thought I was going to be coaching volleyball this summer, but I got pool duty instead." she rolled her eyes, "So I get to spend all day at the pool with all the meathead lifeguard boys." she giggled, "And I do mean boys." She watched as Jake checked his cellphone, smiling as he probably read a text message.

"So, are you guys wild party animals? Stay at home kinda folks? Gonna be bringing guys****** home every night?" her eyes twinkled as she joked with her two new roommates, leaning back against the other side of the doorframe.

"I've got an office job on campus 5 hours a day, and then I'll be volunteering at a summer daycare program in Columbia a couple afternoons each week," Becca explained, relaxing a little bit.

"I go out once and a while, but I've got a boyfriend from back home so I for sure won't be bringing people back at night," she said, answering Ella's question. She glanced up and saw the fan on her ceiling for the first time, and reached up to pull the cord to turn it on, exposing a few inches of her toned stomach in the process.

"Pool duty huh? You gonna hook us up with some free passes?" Jake asked Ella, getting more and more comfortable with the idea of sharing this house for the summer with these two girls.

"I like to party as much as the next guy," he continued. "So don't keep secret any big shindigs! And yeah, I kinda have a girl I'm seeing, not sure how much she'll come around though."

Jake watched Becca reach up for the string on the fan, and couldn't but notice the toned flesh of her midsection. She didn't dress the part but she was a fucking hottie, he could tell!

"Those pool passes would be nice," Jake said. "It's gonna be a real hot summer."

Ella smirked as she watched Jake's gaze follow up Becca's body. Men were all the same, weren't they?

"That's cool, Becca. I won't bring any boys home for you, then. Just lemme know if you change your mind." she winked and looked at Jake, who had mentioned free pool passes twice in the last few minutes.

"I always know about the big parties. I'll be sure to get you on speed dial so I can alert you!" she joked, the smirk still on her face. "Pool passes WOULD be nice. But you may have to ask nicer." she smiled, "Or just wait till I know you better."

She wasn't even trying to be fliratatious, but she realized it came out that way, "Anyways...I have to go pick up my swimsuit from the pool. You're welcome to come with and check it out. See if it might be worth your 'work' for the pass."

Becca blushed slightly when Ella said she wouldn't bring any boys home for her.

The thought of a free pool pass for the summer would be great, she had three afternoons each week to herself and it would be a great way to get a workout in, and get a tan.

"A pool pass would be really great," she agreed, pulling her hair back into a pony tail and nodding at Ella's suggestion that they might go with her to the pool. "I'll go," she said, grabbing her purse.

"Sounds good to me!" Jake said, more than happy to tag along and get to know his new (hottie!) roommates a bit better. This was definitely shaping up to be a damn good summer!

"I'll drive," he offered, grabbing his keys as they all headed for the door, and they piled into his old car and headed towards the Columbia Public Pool.

It was a damn hot day, ninety-five and muggy as hell, and the pool was packed with kids, families, teenagers, and all sorts of other people. It was big, olympic-sized for laps, with a deep section with diving boards, and a kiddie section with slides and fountains.

"Shoulda brought my trunks," Jake said as they pulled into the parking lot.

Ella was happy when both her roommates wanted to come with her. And even happier when Jake offered to drive. She sat in the back seat with Becca, not saying much. It was hot, and the heat made her feel a little lethargic.

As they hopped out of the car at the pool parking lot, Ella laughed, "Don't get ahead of yourself, sweetie. You haven't made me pass-happy yet." She winked and walked briskly towards the entrance, flashing her Lifeguard Badge.

"Sup bitches?" She said, to the group of lifeguard chicks clustered by the tables, apparently on their break. "This is Becca and Jake. New roomies. I need my suit, do you guys know where Carter left it?" Carter and Ella were supposed to be the two head lifeguards, but it was pretty much just a title.

Jenna pointed towards the locker rooms. "In your locker."

Ella smiled. "Keep them company for a second." She motioned for Jake and Becca to hang tight for a few minutes and headed towards the locker room. She entered the girl's locker room and seconds later felt herself being grabbed from behind. Ella screamed out loudly, till the hands let her go. She whirled around. Carter. Of course.

"Jeez. Just making sure you find your suit." He waited for her to open his locker, tan and shirtless. She struggled to keep her eyes on her lock. "See something you like?" He asked, smirking.

"Yes. My suit." She grabbed it, slamming the lock and door shut, turning and walking out without another word.

Becca walked out of the house, locking the door behind them as they walked to Jake's car. She joined Ella in the back seat because Jake still had a couple boxes in the passenger seat to bring in the house later.

It was a short drive and they made small talk about things they passed on campus as they drove. They piled out of the car and walked to the pool, following Ella in with her badge.

Jake and Becca followed her to a table of female lifeguards and were quickly introduced to them to chat with the table of girls before Ella went into the locker room to get her suit.

Jake heard Ella scream from the locker room, and the entire small-talk conversation around the break-room came to a halt. Jake raised an eyebrow.

"That kind of thing happen often around here?" he asked. A couple of the lifeguards were about to go investigate when Ella came storming out, red one-piece in hand.

"Everything okay?" he asked, concern written across his face.

Ella nodded, her hands shaking slightly. "Everything's good. I- I got my suit, and that's what I came for." she wouldn't meet his eyes, nor any of the female lifeguards expressing their concern.

"Carter?" Janine asked, quietly. Ella just nodded and shrugged.

"I'll see you girls later." she gave a quick hug to Janine and ignored the concern on Jake's face as she walked towards the front gate. She opened it and walked out towards the car, not looking back. She knew Carter was back there by now, and she didn't want to deal with it.

"C'mon" Jake said to Becca, and they hurried after the distraught Ella. They caught up with her in a few moments. "Hey," Jake said, "what happened back there?"

Ella stood at the car, waiting for Jake and Becca to get there so it could be unlocked. She glanced back over her shoulder at them, and consequently met eyes with Carter, who winked at her obnoxiously.

"Nothing, it's not a big deal. The lifeguard....s just need to keep their hands to themselves." she said, not wanting to tell her new roommates anything about the situation.

Becca walked quickly with Jake, following Ella to the car, wanting to make sure everything was okay.

Ella assured everyone she was okay and they piled back into Jake's car, the girls in the back seat.

Becca turned towards Ella and caught her gaze. "You're sure you're okay?"

Jake fired up the engine and turned on the air conditioning. He kept his mouth shut, not wanting to piss Ella off. She clearly wasn't going to tell him any more was absolutely necessary. He turned on the radio, and a DJ said the weather was going to be hot hot hot, with a high in the upper 90's all week long. Jake groaned as the music came on.

"Thanks guys, I appreciate your concern." she said genuinely, her voice quiet, "Don't worry about it." A haunting voice in the back of Ella's head told her that if she confided in her roommates, bad things may happen.

"Ewwww, so hot! Glad I'm gonna be at the pool," Ella said, poking Becca and laughing. "You two better step up your roommate game so you can earn free pool passes!"
