Suggestions, Please

Get a sleek lil black Jetta. I -almost- bought one til I found my Beretta. I loved that goddamn car, but I love my Hot Red Chevy even more.

Lavykins, as I told ya earlier...........

:p

I don't really have any suggestion as far as make or model, but I would suggest bringing a knowledgable man with you when you go. If your parents aren't too far away, your dad would probably work best. As sad as it is, car folks (generally speaking) still tend to think women are stupid when it comes to anything with an engine and wheels. And the fact that you've never really done it before and don't know much yourself wouldn't lend the situation to, "I am woman, hear me roar about carburetors - I'll show them - Take advantage of a woman, will they - Grrrr!"

:D

Best of luck!

I usesd to have a red beretta... loooooved that car. sold it when it was just too much of a pain in the ass to transport the kiddies in. :( would love to have it back now and then.

Maybe EBW will sell you that electric P.O.S. he drives. That oughta get you some respect on the death-ways of Texas.

I"ve heard very good things about the Saturns. They're damned reliable and nearly never break. Unfortunately, when they do, they're more expensive than average to fix.

I drive an older Subaru and I'm a huge Subaru fan now. They make some sporty little cars that you almost can't kill.

Please don't buy a plastic barbie car.

What about those GI Joe jeeps? I've heard those are pretty cool once you take off the guns and missle launchers. Unless you're into that kind of stuff. Weirdos.

Seriously, can't offer any real car advice, but it's good to know that it was only the car which was totally wrecked. :)

Saturns are great choices

:p

Unless you are planning on buying an older vehicle.. umm like something from the 80's.. DON'T USE THIS LINE ;) Cars now adays.. are fuel injected.. no carburetors. It wouldn't be a good start.. *L*:D

Lavy.. what is your budget? What size car do you want? 2 door-4-door? prefer car to truck? where do you live again? Price range? I can do some looking around on the web and find you some info.. hubby and I are car freaks.. he knows alot.. I know a little. ;)

I have a Nissan Maxima.. neat little car.. (well it's not little.. fits 5 adults comfortably, but it's doesn't drive like a big car). It's my second one.. and I have yet to find anything bad with them..

Hondas are great cars. I've never owned a Volkswagon, but the Jettas and Passats have great style. If you like small, cute cars as much as I do - and you can wait a few months - BMW is releasing an updated version of the mini cooper. It's adorable, gets awesome gas mileage, AND it's BWM quality! More info at:

My car is Grand Prix SE - 2 door

I simply love my car , its great on gas mileage, its sporty, and I simply love the way it handles.

When I was car shopping I looked @ alot of cars and it was between my car and a Honda. My car won out , I like that I can control the radio from the steering wheel. That was what won me over ! :p

So Laurel, can I expect MY Beemer to arrive anytime soon?

It's on the way, toots. With a big red bow and everything.

(I think that's the first time I've ever called anyone "toots". weird.)

I drive a Plymouth Breeze... which I know isn't available anymore, but the Stratus is similar.

This poor car has 114,000 miles on it, only gets oil changes when the oil pressure light comes on, and it's never had a tune up. It still runs perfect, gets good gas mileage and has never been in the shop. great lil car.

the only suggestion i would make if you decide to look at them is to either get a manual transmission or make sure you're getting the model with the larger engine. my breeze is a manual, but i've driven rentals that were automatics and they had NO power at all. I didn't even feel safe driving them.

Subaru's are good options, though they're expensive to fix when things do go wrong... likewise the volkswagons.

Mercedes M series are fairly affordable these days, especially when compared to the high price of most new cars anyway. Check it out.

I love my Saturn. I've had it for almost a year and a half and it's the best car I ever had. It's a golden beige in color and not only does it look so pretty it also drives like a dream. I've never had a problem with it ever, it's quite dependable.

When I bought it, it was just like the commercials you see on TV. I almost wanted to crawl out the door - they do make such a big deal when you sign on the dotted line.

They have great service records, too. Also, when you go into the showroom to make your purchase there is no hassle - what you see, price wise, is what you get. It was simple, and I must say that buying it was the most stress-free time I've ever had in my life.

You mentioned that you wouldn't mind a smaller SUV. I have a KIA Sportage, and wouldn't trade it for anything else (except maybe another KIA!). Great price, 100,000 mile warranty; and I haven't had a moment's problem with mine.

Chevy Celibraty

my roomate had one for his first car and he did no maintnence to the thing and it still ran good. Those things take a lickin and keep on tickin

Jeep Wrangler..three models to pick from(three price ranges)They are great in the winter(4x4) and great in the summer(take the top off) and will go ANYWHERE you want to go.
