My first story has been approved and posted in the Humor and Satire section! I'm really excited about this for various reasons, not the least being that it's just about the first story I've written purely for pleasure... ever. Since I had such a great time writing it, I fear that I'm now becoming addicted, and will likely be writing more stories for submission to Lit. As such, I'd really appreciate authorly feedback on this story, so that future stories can be better. I mean, if I'm going to write, I may as well do it well, right? And I've always been a big believer in getting feedback from several people instead of just one, whenever possible, and who better to get feedback from than other writers?

Better places

Dear R,
There are other places on Lit where you might get better results. There's a story discussion place and one for story feedback.
Good luck.

Ps. If you want to have people read your story, always put a URL in a handy place.
Pps. I'm going to try to find your story and read it. I sure hope it has something in it about garderobes and sheep.

Just out of curiosity, why did you write the others?

(S)he did. It was the first three words of the posting!

For classes ;) It's a much different feeling when you have a deadline vs. when you're writing just because, and I've just done very little of the 'writing for fun' thing (compare this story to, say, a term paper on Berkeley).

There's a story discussion place and one for story feedback.
I knew about the former, but not the latter (hey, it's what happens when you're a newbie). Since I was trying to get feedback from other authors (and I think I saw a similar post here not long ago), I figured the authors board would be the place to ask about writing tips. I mean, style and plot and such are one thing, and they're pretty subjective, so that wasn't really wasn't what I was looking for tips on (well, maybe the style thing), but moreso technical writing things. If this is the wrong place for such requests, I'll gladly put it in the right one and delete this thread; pisses fewer people off and gets better responses that way.

He :)

The Story Discussion Circle is still probably the best place -- most of the feedback will come from other authors, and it'll usually be detailed and technical. The only caveat is that you're supposed to participate in a few of the discussions before you put your own story up for discussion.

Welcome, and congrats/good luck with your story.

A sensible rule... I'll head over that way and check it out. Try and put some more thought to things (and not post right before bed when I'm excited about something) in the future, I will. Thankee :)

Welcome, and congrats/good luck with your story. [/B]
And thanks again :)

Well, if I click on them the story appears, even on my old clunker of a PC. I don't know what more you want?

That is a dangerous question to ask MG. Don't even think of asking DurtGurl that.

By gum, it worked. I read it.

Ps. A new Mercedez Benz, a ribbon for my inkjet printer, a margarita made with the good stuff, a hat like Og's, a garderobe, brass knuckles, an Aero Commander, a Big Bertha driver in my size, an oil glut, a lobster thermidor, peace in our time, a new novel by Terry Pratchett, shoes in my size, and a sheep.

We don't mind discussing aspects of writing here, but we draw the line at feedback or suggestions on specific stories. Why? It's logical to get feedback from authors, right? Sure. The problem is that writers desiring feedback are generally a rude, inconsiderate, whiny, bitchy, moany, and demanding lot. If the baby birds constantly demanding feed--ing--back were to get wind of a feedback resource here, this place would be glutted with "GIVE ME FEEDBACK!" spam within a week. And the authors of these threads would never give anyone else feedback and they would never participate in other parts of the forum.

So, by almost unanimous mutual consent (no one said, no, they just abstained), we've decided that this forum will be feedback free since there are already two forums dedicated to such goings on.

Hmmmmm

Good luck with your story friend ragden, I'll have a read later.
