Suggestion for new category of writings - NON-FICTION

There should be a category for NON-FICTION.

Just how would anyone prove that it was non-fiction or fiction?

And Like Starr asked, Why would we need this? Most of it would end up in non-erotic anyway. That is if it's all non-fiction.

Refraze? :Reference matrial???

Hi TX rad and star? Are you maybe meaning reference material like descriptive text to books like the Karma-sutra and -What is that famous several versions or editions of ??? The Joy of Sex? And other explanative materials that can help some of us- me for example simple minds that has been sexually active since 20 but never taught anythng by my parents or girfriends or only real boyfriend who is now hubby? for Fucs sakes- I don't even know how to get an orgam for my self by myself except rubbing pelvic face down on te bed matteres And threfore have no idea how to let hubby know what I need to enjoy sex at ll. It fustrates him cause I don't really feel comfotable with a lot of stuff he does! Always frustrated -probably Curt too. Quesla and hubby Curtis.

Did you miss the "Reviews and Essays" category? (Not to mention "How-To.") what did you think those were all about? What nonfiction don't you think can be categorized there?

Many times reality can be "better" than fiction. Obviously would be more realistic. I know some number of us could write about our own erotic experiences that would equal or exceed the fertile minds of the exceptional writers here.

[Sorry this was 2 months late. I am new here and somehow thought I would be notifieid automatically if replies were left.]

Oh, you mean "true" stories. There's nothing on the topical categories that marks them as fiction. If you have a "true" story, just pick the closest topical category and submit it there.

I have to say that personally, I can't stand stories that begin "What I'm about to tell you is absolutely true" or words to that effect. Why does it matter whether it's true or not? Am I supposed to think "Hey, you lucky bastard?"

Immediate back click for me. In my experience true stories are somewhat lacking in plot :) Give me a work of fiction any day of the week.

Man, I'd better not post that stuff about the Alien Battesuit I have in the cellar of my comic book shop from when I worked for the Ministry of Defence then...

I mean, that's just going to sound ridiculous isn't it!!! :)

There's nothing stopping you writing such experiences and submitting them now. Many writers have posted "real" stories, many others have incorporated real experiences into fictional stories.

Just submit them to whatever category best suits.

A word of caution though: any author note on the top that says something to the effect of "what you are about to read is a true story, it actually happened to me" (and there are hundreds that have that) is likely to result in a back-click. Many of these are patently NOT real or are so poorly written as to be unbelievable.

What starr and sr and poppy say.

Stories are stories, whether fictional or true, and this is predominately a story site. As has been said, the opening line of 'this is a true story..' has caused many a backclick. Why? I guess writers don't apply the same discipline of content editing and ramble a bit.

I don't need to know, in fact don't want to know, whether a story is 'true' (it can't be - it has to be tailored for retelling). Narrate a good tale and we will want to read it.

How about "this is a true story...except the parts that I've changed/made up/got from a mate down the pub"...?
