Sugesstion to Management

Hey guys!
Love this site, I find some of the best stories on here. But I was thinking, in the "New" section, it would make life a lot easier if the new stories were categorized into their genres. I normally go in there to search for a particular type of story and its a bit of a pain to go through them all, especially if I'm not even sure if the author has uploaded a new chapter or not.

But it is just a suggestion

It seems like they used to be more grouped together, like a group of romance or loving wives stories would be accepted at the same time so they'd all appear in a row. If they did it by category a filter would work best, where you could go to the new page and just click "filter by category" and then choose the category.

you can search the new stories for the past week by category, under the Advanced Search option. So right now you can probably do exactly what you want, you just have to learn the search page.

That would only be fair across the range of authors/stories, of course, if the groups were rotated on the listing. It's a natural phenomenon that the stories at the head of the list will get more reads, all other things equal, than those at the end of the list.

The system already has some built-in biases; would hate to see another one added.

If the submission editor was able to do so, I think the stories should be listed in terms of their judgment of the better stories/authors first--and for all I know that's what they tend to do, although I'm sure the editor isn't able to look at them in any depth across the board. But this would be the commerical-minded approach.

Generally the new stories are grouped by category, except during a contest when contest entries get pride of place. Sure that changes each day over the week but if you have 'favorites' you will get a message about new postings. You can always use the search facility.

I haven't found the new list to be grouped by categories at all at any time.

Not so much categories as squick factor. The edgier stuff tends to post lower on the list and the less squicky ones higher up. Romance, Sci-Fi, Non Human, EC, Novels, etc. seem to gravitate to the top while Incest, Gay, Lesbian, LW are always closer to the end of the list than the beginning.

Value of the story/author to promote the site does seem to play in, though.
