Sugaring

Another one who was only familiar with sugaring for hair removal, though with the context given it made perfect sense.

I'm trying to remember a word we used for young women who make clear that gifts will result in sexual favours, followed by making it clear that more gifts had better ensue or the guy's wife will find out? Apart from 'blackmail', obviously. It wasn't sugar mouse but something maybe similar?

Thanks for your input. I can make it work either way. But I use it in my Mickey Spillane story, so quick and simple seems more appropriate.

Huh? I've read several Mickey Spillane stories, but don't recall that. But it's been a "few" years since I did. My first thought was hair removal? I actually like that term as you're planning on using it, and may borrow it at some point.

The term flowers is often used in place of $$$ in ads on sites that don't allow soliciting sex(like craig's list after they ditched their casual encounters section) the ad will say how horny and lonely they are and they want a man to bring them flowers or roses

As for continuous gifts or else...Paypigs? or am I thinking of something else?

There's currently a writers' challenge on Lit to write stories in the style of Mickey Spillane. There should be a link on the initial Literotica page to a page with all the details of the challenge, in case you're interested.

Their called 'financial dominatrix' and the men are doing this voluntarily, at least in the beginning.

“Findom” is not the same as “sugar daddy.”

As for Melissa’s original enquiry I’ve never heard the term but if I read it, without the benefit of this discussion, as in her extract I might give it a thought for a couple of seconds and then dismiss it as unimportant and continue reading. I think the term is unnecessary and adds nothing because the next sentence explains what she’s doing and the first sentence has already told us why.

This is my reaction as well. I think "sugaring" in the first sentence can be avoided, and the potential confusion to go with it can be avoided.

I’d initially thought hair removal, but, seeing it in context, I had no problem understanding what you meant.

I don’t find it confusing. I also see one key reason why to keep it, to use it later in the story without this context around it. If this is the only, single, use in the story then it’s indeed optional in this passage. Unless the goal is education, to raise awareness of the term; or to establish authenticity for knowledgeable readers.

Which stands as a general point for jargon in any profession.

Thanks for all the input.

In my mind, there are two issues regarding jargon.

One, as has been addressed by several people, is comprehensibility. And I don't even think that is an issue of "does the reader understand it?" so much as "does it take the readers head out of the story?"

The other is the verisimilitude of the character and their dialogue. In the example I posted, the narrator, who is a veteran sex worker, would absolutely use the term "sugaring" without a second thought. So there's that. The trick, it seems to me, is weighing and balancing the two sometimes conflicting needs.

Similarly, on a comment on my new story, The Adventures of Ranger Ramona (and really you should go read it), I received a comment from a reader pointing out a similar situation.

Here's the passage in question:

“You know,” she said, speaking loudly to be heard over the television and the jukebox, “Ramona is from Hancock County. You ever get out that way?”

“That’s outside my delivery area,” he replied, looking at Ramona, “But I’ve been to Acadia Park a few times. You from around there?”

Ramona shook her head. “Not from MDI. I was born in Bucksport. Grew up a little ways outside of Ellsworth.”

Now, I'm a Mainer. Every Mainer knows that MDI is Mount Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park. But I swear, I don't think I have ever heard a Mainer actually say "Mount Desert Island." So, Ramona's use of MDI seemed so natural to me that I didn't even think of having her say anything else.

I think the reader is right. Ramona could have said "Mount Desert" which a Mainer will say. But then again, it's a weird name. It's not a mountain or a desert, it's an island, which does have mountains on it, but not a desert, and besides the locals pronounce it "Mount Dessert," like it's a cake or something.

This writing shit is tricky.

But it was an answer to the question he asked. Now, a Barracuda is woman that sets out to destroy a man, financially, emotionally, destroy his marriage. They are also called man-eaters.

The Thai lady were I would go and get 'sugaring' - hair removal was not a sex worker. However I have hair on my shaft that I liked removed as well. So she always fluffed me up. Sugaring hurts less than wax and works a little better too. I have very light hair so a little magnifying glass and tweezers were used as a really nice touch on my balls to reveal them all.
After a few sugaring appts we finished the sugaring and I was admiring my erection and said I wish I could save that all the way home. she made me cum. Real slow and tender like a lover. It was fantastic.
After that I set my appointments up as massage and sugar. She would sugar then an hour of amazing really firm but not deep massage and really neat stretching where she would twist my body in ways I did not know possible. Totally enjoyed the erection while sugaring and she always made sure during stretching I was very aware of my penis and would allow me a very sensual release.
I never thought of her as a sex worker. She was married and had an otherwise normal life and business hours. Maybe she was just really good at it and made me feel like she enjoyed the entire experience as much as I did. I miss her.

Findom is insane, the women just demand money or the paypig buy them things in exchange for nothing, no pics, dirty talk, cam, anything...in fact they're usually abusive.

A friend of my wife's niece just divorced her husband for sending some women several thousand dollars over the course of three months....and the woman lived on the other side of country, so this guy ruined his marriage without even having an actual affair....and will probably continue to pay this woman.

And I'm waiting fucking tables?

And that is the goal of findom, to get other peoples money and keep it coming. Crazy or not, some men are obsessed with it. At least with a Barracuda you get some good fucking, before they get to fucking up your life. In the strip clubs the women play a game, "Let see if we can fuck him, fuck him good, fuck him, but not the kind of fucking his looking for."

They pick their pigeons as they come in the door. Zeroing in the ones they think will shell out the most with noting but a lap dance or two show for it.

I am forever telling people that strippers are not degrading themselves, the pathetic morons paying to see them dance, lap dance or do more are.

yeah Mr. Bigs in his thousand dollar suit dribbling in his pants from a girl grinding on his lap, tell me again what a man you are.

Damn, I hate men....and I am one.

I've never felt more powerful in my life than when I was dancing.

I don't hate men. Not all men, anyway. But I do prefer women and I'm one of those. :)

I've never felt more powerful in my life than when I was dancing.

I've heard more than one life story along the lines of "I got tired of being verbally and physically abused, overworked, underpaid, wearing my body out, and getting splattered with body fluids... so I left nursing and went into sex work."

And here I thought 'sugaring' was what one did to an enemy's fuel tank to ruin a gasoline engine. Or diluting certain powdered drugs. Silly me.

* "The fucker sugared my 'Vette."
* "The smack is sugared to shit."

Okay, from the thread title, and since this is LIT, I figured that it's a gender-neutral term for financial support from a sugar-daddy or sugar-mommy, possibly extended to support from a sugar-sonny or sugar-daughter.

* "That girl has been sugaring the old bum for years."

But I've never associated it with hair removal. Does sugar beat Nair?

I've never associated it with hair removal. Does sugar beat Nair?

It's a parallel to modern waxing and dates back to ancient Egypt. A mixture of sugar, salt and some form of mild acid like lemon juice or vinegar is cooked until it turns into a thick paste. Pressed over hair and pulled away, it pulls the hair out by the roots. Some prefer to it other methods as it contain only natural ingredients with no weird chemicals like those found in most depilatories (eg. Nair).

It is not just a gender neutral term, but it also covers relationships in which one partner financially supports the other in exchange for sex that do not fit into a "Daddy/Baby" model.

Wealthy men have always had what used to be called "kept women" and I am sure the same thing has existed in other versions and gender configurations.
