Suffering in Spring

Okay, fellow Southeast USA allergy sufferers, looks like at least some of us may get some relief in the form of rain tomorrow. Good luck to us all!

Now it has hit the Northwest USA. My sinuses are giving me some major problems including the worst of all: sinus headaches. They don't respond to Advil or any other kind of painkiller. No. That would just be too easy. The only thing they'll respond to is medication with sinus in the title, especially Benadryl (sp?). Oh well. It just means that when I go to the store I need to pick up itchy eyes drops and sinus stuff as well as Advil. Poopy.

The problem with sinus headaches is they aren't caused by things that are treatable with normal painkillers. You need something to loosen the gunk that is blocking all those nooks and crannies and causing pressure to build up. Sinus headache medicine is a decongestant and a painkiller combined.

One of the hardest things for me to decide when nasal congestion starts is whether to try to dry it out or to try to loosen that stuff.

My ENT gives me Hydrocodone for sinus headaches that I get. At first I had to go to bed because the fuckers made me nauseous. They also make me itch. However they do mute the pain as nothing else does. They also tend to make me rather hyper and talkative or typeative. The window of relief is usually enough to keep me going for a few more weeks of pain.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting. The problem with my sinus headaches is that they happen so rarely/ not on any kind of schedule that I don't really know what to do with them when they do happen and they usually happen when I don't have any medicine to treat them with. They aren't as bad as yours FurryFury, but they are still a pain in the butt.

I take reactin now...doesn't make me drowsy and it has worked really well...I keep some advil cold and sinus around when it gets really bad...also a hot bath, hot cup of peppermint tea and a cold cloth on the eyes and forehead for the reallllly bad days...
