Finally, She thought to herself as she put her quill back in the bottle of black ink. Her eyes ran over the words she had just wrote, the last few paragraphs to her book. My book. Her eyes closed for a moment, a smile formed on her lips. Barley anyone thought she'd be able to do it and the very few that did, didn't think it would end up on the shelves because... well who would publish a womens work? Who would take the time to read a womens work?

She grabbed the last paper and added it to her tall stack before she rose from her chair. Maria grabbed her stack of papers and put them in her brown leather bag before pushing in her chair and heading to the door to seemif that carriage that had arrived a few minutes ago was still there. Opening her from door, she saw it standing there, two large black horses standing there, waiting for her. With a bright smile, she shut the door behind her and ran to the carriage, getting into the back.

As she got in, she couldn't stop herself from bouncing a bit. Finally, all those people who thought she would never get published... Oh she just couldn't wait to see their faces when they saw her book on the shelves! It didn't take long to get into town, really only a few minutes and soon the horse was she pulled up in front of the town book store.

Maria grabbed her things and climbed out of the carriage, giving the driver two silver coins before heading inside. "Thank you sir!" She called to him as he started to drive away. She turned back to the store and walked inside, the small bell ringing as she went in. The store looked to be completely empty. "Mr. Debber?" She called out a bit confused.

From the back she could hear a some rusuling before a man about 28 with shaggy brown hair and deep green eyes walked out. He wore a smile on his face before he saw her.

"Maria, what are you doing here?" He asked her, crossing his arms.

"I finished!" She told him, holding out the bag. I finished the book!" Mr. Debber was the one man in town who believed she could write, He even thought he could get her book out in the world. He was the only man she trusted in town... or at least was.

Mr. Debber reached out and took the bag before laying it on the counter. "Maria... what... l mean," His face was twisted in reaget and confusion. "Maria, l... l can't put this on my shelves." He said finally.

Her smile faded. "W-what do you mean you can't. Mr. Debber, you said you would! You said if l wrote it, you would look it over and publis-"

"I didn't think you would write it all!" He interrupted. "You looked so upset, so put down.... Maria, l just wanted to make you feel better." He uncrossed his arms before placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, but if l put that up, l'll become a town joke. No one will come here anymore. You must understand."

Maria stared at him, her eyes watering a bit from the betral. How dare he! How dare he make a fool out of me! She shot back, her face twisting into that of rage. "My book will get on the shelf Mr Debber, you have my word on that. And people will love it! They... they'll love it so much, it'll suck them in!" She pointed to him, "Starting with your blood line." She watched his face twist to horror at her words before she turned and left the store.

"Maria!" She could hear him yell. "Maria you can't do this!" She kept walking. "Witch! Take your curse off!" A grin crossed the young ladies face as she headed home.

No one should ever trick a witch.

Matthew Debber: Age 20, 6'1, brown hair, green eyes, short well kept beard, athletic body

Matt was living an average life, he is a sophomore at the state college and just started his second semester. He has never done anything out of the ordinary, when he wasn't in his classes he was just hanging out with friends, drinking and hanging out. Living the normal college kid life.

About two weeks into the semester he was given a project for his English class. He had to read a book and work on a advanced book report following certain guidelines and criteria. So to make this project not completely boring he was determined to find a very interesting book. That night he was in the school's library browsing the selection they had.

After almost twenty minutes of looking he ended up in the fantasy section and was pretty sure he found a suitable book. He scanned through some of the pages and read stuff from and elf princess and other fantasy creatures as well. It seemed very interesting so he grabbed it and checked it out.

Heading back to his dorm he grabbed a soda from the fridge and settled down on his bed to start reading the book. Minutes turned into two hours as he kept reading unable to put the book down. Then in a flash his life changed. Everything was black and when he opened his eyes and was shocked when he saw he was in a forest. Trees all around him and he was lying under one with his back pressed against the trunk.

Nearby he heard water running and looked to his right to see a small river cutting through the trees. Matt then realized that he was completely naked except for his light grey boxer briefs. "What the hell...." he said under his breath. At first he thought he was just in a dream but after slapping himself a few times and then crawling over to the river and splashing water on his face he realized this wasn't no dream.

Zylyn leaned against the tree, her head cocked to one side as she watched the man as he splashed water on his face. Already she had been watching him for a while, trying to decide if it was safe to come out and let him see her, or if she should just stay here and wait for him to move on. truthfully, after watching him slap hisself a few times, she was leaning on the, stay hidden side, but then she saw how confused he was, like he had no idea where he was at that moment.

Maybe he got attacked by something. Maybe they left him here to dye. She thought to herself. Now she just had to figure out what the hell he was. He was tall, had little hair on his body, well for most of the creatures she ment. At first she thought he was a different type of elf, but then what happened to his ears. They had no point to them they were perfectly rounded. And what was he wearing?

This day is just getting weirder and weirder. First she gets attacked on a trip no one was suppose to know she was taking, then all her men got killed and she almost got her head cut off by a orc, the only reason she didn't was because she had a knife hidden under her dress. If she hadn't had that she was sure she would be dead at the moment. She'd been running for hours now, trying to find her way around this forest.

Finally, she had enough Zylyn brushed her dark brown hair back behind her ear and slowly walked forward, her dress making the smallest sound as it ran against the ground. Making sure to be quiet she pulled out her knife and snatched her hand out.

She wrapped her hand around his neck before pulling him back against her much smaller body, the knives blade already digging into his neck. "What are you?" She whispered in his ear. "Who are you?"

Matt was sitting on his knees trying to piece together what was going on. One moment he was in his dorm reading a book and the next he woke up in a forest practically naked. Then all of the sudden he heard a twig crack behind him and before he could react to it he had a knife to his neck. The sharp cold blade pressing against his neck and if the person applied anymore pressure to it he was sure the blade would start digging into his flesh.

He didn't resist as he heard the female voice whispering into his ear. Sure he could over power a girl but didn't want to take a chance since she was the one with the knife. "Please don't kill me! My name is Matt and I'm a sophomore in college!" Matt said practically pleading with the girl. "I mean you no harm I am just trying to figure out where I am."

Zylyn face mixed up confused. What the hell is a sophomore? Or a college? She slowly let him go, sensing he wasn't any harm. It was either because he sounded crazy or because of the tone of his voice. She moved the knife that she held in her hand to the belt that was around her waist, slipping it inside one of the loops to keep it from any one else that might harm her.

She took a step away from him, crossing her arms over her chest."What are you talking about?" She looked him over. "And what is up with your ears? Did you get attacked out something?" A bit of fear started to fill her, thinking he mind have gooten attacked here. What is they try to do what they did to him, to me. She took a moment to look around her, taking in everything before looking back at him, a brow raised.

"Why are you out here?"

As soon as Matt was released and turned around to face the girl who was just holding a knife to his neck. The first thing he noticed was her pointy ears almost like an elf. The more he started to think about it the more his mind was blown. He realized this must be the book he was reading and he is dreaming himself in it. At least he hoped he was dreaming if not he did not know how to explain him being here.

When she asked him about his ears he knew how different he must seem to her. "Ummm.." he said as he tried thinking of a possible explanation. Rubbing the back of his neck while he thought. Should he lie and try to befriend the elf or tell the truth and seem like a madman to her? "Yeah... I was attacked... and I'm in the woods trying to hide" He said softly hoping this wasn't going to backfire on him.

Zylyn looked him over, taking on his outfit as he spoke to her about being attacked. Maybe somebody took his clothes when they attacked him. She thiught to herself. "Well... l was just attacked to. My men are all dead." She reached up and untied the two strings that kept her cloak on her. The dark red cloak feel from her shoulders, but she caught it before it could hit the ground. "So these woods aren't the safest place to be." She held her cloak out so hemcould take it. "It'll benbe getting dark soon so here."

Zylyn grabbed her dress and bunch it up before heading into the stream. "Since we were both attacked l think maybe we should stay together. Just incase some of the guys that attacked us show up again." She looked back at him. "l'm Zylyn by the way."

Matt watched and listened as she explained how she was attacked too and then handed him the cloak. It was getting cold and since his clothes disappeared he happily took the cloak and threw it over his shoulders. This girl seemed so familiar to him and it wasn't until she told him her name that he realized it was the main character in the book he was reading.

This all seemed unreal to him and he was having trouble accepting that he was in the book. "I'm.. I'm Matt and thanks for the cloak." What was going to happen now? He just tried thinking of possible ways out of this situation. "Alright sounds good. Whats the plan now?"

"Well..." She let her dress fall back and hit the ground when she was across the stream. "I was going to try to find the right direction to get to my kingdom, or at least a safe kingdom near by." Zylyn brushed her hands on her dress and looked back at him. "Come on, we should really get going before something comes to get us. Also...," her eyes ran over him. "Your not wearing anything. If you stay out here to long in the dark, you might get a really sick."

She gave him a reassuring smile though. "Not worry though, if we can't find a way out of these woods right away, l know how to start a fire. l'll just need you to get me some wood." She felt like she had to tell him that, let him know that she wasn't going to let him get to sick out here. Just so he knew she wasn't going to just be trying to take care of herself.

"Now Matt," She started as she walked through the forest, pushing branchs out of her way. "Why are you naked.... and do your ears hurt to much?"

Matt was glad he was found by Zylyn. She seemed very helpful and resourceful and if anyone was going to help him figure out how to get out of the book it would be her. He was just thinking of possible ways he could tell her that this was all just a book and he was now stuck in it. That would have to wait for later until he earned her trust.

He listened as she explained that they were going to be heading to her kingdom or a nearby one for safety at nightfall. Spending the night in an unknown forest to him is the least desirable thing he wanted right now. They she asked why he was naked and why his ear were like that.

"I was attacked just like you were. The people who attacked me had to be thieves because they took everything even my clothes.." He paused for a moment to try and come up with an explanation for his ears. "...one of them had to have used the dark arts against me and cast a spell on me because they were like this when I woke up." He said as he crossed the river the cold water giving his body goosebumps. He hoped she bought what he said.

Zylyn looked back at him, thinking about what he just said to her. "l'm sorry that happened to you. l wish l could have been there to help." Not that she would be able to. She wasn't really the fighting type unless she really needed too. Even then, she wasn't the best fighter in the world and if this man couldn't fight them, she didn't know how well she would do. At least she would try too though.

Her hands reached up and she grabbed her ears, pulling on the small hoops that hung from the tips of them. She loved her ears, she couldn't imagine them disappearing like his did. After a moment she moved them away and crossee her arms. "Don't worry, as long as your with me, no one will try to hurt you." Only because most will be trying to hurt me, but... She shook her head a bit.

"Anyway, do you mind me asking what you are? I mean obviously, l'm a elf. Princess of the elves to be exact." She smiled at him, proudly before she could stop herself and she frowned. "I'm sorry, l don't mean to brag. l was just telling you a bit about myself!" Zylyn shrugged a bit, giving him a apologetic look.

Matt was glad to hear that no one would mess with them while she was with him. He wouldn't last a second in a fight against these trained warriors and hoped he didn't have to find out how quickly he would meet his demise in a battle against an attacker. Matt already knew about Zylyn from what he read in the book. If he would wanna be stuck with anyone in this world it would definitely be her.

He had to think quick again as he was asked what he was. Thinking up a story quickly he looked up at the princess and started talking. "The princess of the elves? Well it is a great honor to be at your presence. As for me I am no one. Just a traveler, lone wanderer you might say. Just going from village to village to try and find a decent life for myself."

She smiled a bit. "A traveler? You know l haven't seen a traveler in quite a whike now." She turned around and gave him a bow, keeping her head high as she did. "It's great to meet you." When she stood back up, she turned on her heel and continued on her way. "So Matt, l would tell you about myself, but l don't want to be rude. You know, l mean l maybe a princess, but l've never really been into just talking about myself. l think it's more interesting learning about others."

Zylyn stopped when they reached a field. It was... kind of nice seeing no trees for a bit nut she knew she shouldn't think it was safe. Even a field could be dangerous! "You... probably been through these things more then me... and l don't want to sound weak or anything but..." She turned and looked back at him. "Would you mind horrible if l walked behind you?"

Before he answered she grabbed the knife and held it out to him. "Here! If these makes you feel safer, you can carry the knife."

Matt listened to the elf princess talk as he followed her. Keeping alert of his surroundings but all he was hearing was the trees rustling in the wind around them. He just nodded when Zylyn bowed back at him. They then reached a field that let them kinda get a grasp of their surroundings since it opened up from the canopy of trees. As he was looking around she told him that she wanted him to lead the way and wanting to earn her respect and trust agreed to her.

Taking the knife he stepped out in front of the elf and started leading his way across the field. The soft grass felt cool against his bare feet making him feel a little colder. He wished he didn't lose all his clothes, but then how would he look to Zylyn when she spotted him. Constantly scanning the horizon for any sign of movement. It seemed like they were safe as they neared the other side. He then stopped when he heard some rustling in the bushes. Wondering if it was just the wind, or an animal or something else...
