Successful multi-author stories?

Hello! I have an idea for a story which is about ten chapters long. Granted I could write whenever I get the chance and slowly release the story one chapter at a time (of course ten chapters to some people is next to nothing :p). Then the thought of a group project crossed my mind. What if ten authors wrote one chapter each? I fear ten might be too big of a number to work with. Have there been any successful multi-author stories like this? Or if anyone has any experience working with other authors and would like to give me some suggestions/tips - all advice is appreciated!

Thank you!

What you are suggesting is a Chain Story.

The Authors' Hangout has successfully co-authored Chain Stories in the past. I was not the originator of the idea but I wrote the start of The Worst Chain Story Ever with Chapter 01. It lived up to its title. Most of the chapters were appalling writing, some chapters are missing, never written, and continuity? What's that?

Another AH Chain Story was The Literotica Olympics. That is dated now because it often refers to AH regulars who have now left Literotica, but at the time is was enjoyable to do, and to read. My contribution was Day 17 - Rowing.

If you want to start a Chain Story, it is recommended that you devise a scenario and ask for contributors. It would take some negotiation to work out who does what, and when, and some discipline among the authors to reach a successful conclusion.

Thank you Ogg, I was going to mention the Olympics, but it would have taken me eons to find a link.

It isn't that difficult, Matriarch.

Go to Chain Stories, search for 'T' because The Literotica Olympics starts with The, and those stories that are still posted are there.

Some have been removed.

Thanks for the replies. I will still keep the idea in mind - it sounds like it might be more work than doing it on my own!
