Successful Loving Wives story? Am I nuts?

Okay, call me crazy. Many know I'm a masochist, so maybe I'm a glutton for punishment here, but I don't want to give up on Loving Wives yet. We've had some good debate and discussions on what the category "should" be, our opinions on what others seem to think it's about, and so on, but none of them have helped me develop a good story for that section.

I'd love to brainstorm realistic scenarios and plots that could potentially go on to be successful Loving Wives tales. And though I doubt they are lurking here, I'd love to hear from the anonymous posters who send rude and hateful feedback to the majority of LW authors to get their ideas and wishes for a "good" tale. I honestly want to know! If you're scared of getting flamed for "coming forward" now, register a new name or send me private mail or a PM!

Everyone else, let's brainstorm!

I've never quite understood the purpose of the "Loving Wives" category. My best guess is that the name is ironic, and it is really for stories about "cheating wives." I've submitted one story under that assumption, and it got placed in that category, so maybe I'm correct. On the other hand, maybe I'm wrong, and it just fell through the cracks. I really don't know.

Any links to these past "debates and discussion"? I'd hate to ask everyone to reiterate if it's all here someplace......Carney

Thanks. I think I understand the category now.

Now, we just need to clarify what a "successful" submission means. No flames? A little "H"? A high vote score? Lots of reads? Or what?

Pretty much all of the above. I doubt I'll ever get an "Editor's choice" mark or a "Winner" for any contest, but I have had the red "Hot" on several submissions. Having a high score (with 10 or more votes) will earn you the H. Obviously, lack of flaming is a good sign a story did well.

I've been reading the TOP LIST for Loving Wives, and to me they've seemed boring. One had a disclaimer that there was no sex in it and was about a man coping with his cheating wife.

If you read the feedback portal on the typical cheating wife story you'll see lots of flames. A story I wanted in Fetish (and submitted an edit to have it moved there) suffered greatly when the site owners placed it in LW. I received a lot of negative feedback, including "death threats" in E-mail, and my score hit the high 2s fast!

I'm still curious what could be considered a "successful" story there!

Well, I guess my personal definition of a "successful" story is one that I feel good about, that gets across the point I was trying to make. If I get one user feedback showing that they "get it," I consider it 100% successful. Of course, the little H and high vote scores are nice, too, but I don't really consider those part of the goal.

I haven't suffered the indignity of major flames yet, but I imagine I'll take that as a badge of honor when I inevitably do. Getting a rise out of people certainly shows that you've touched them! But maybe that's just me.......Carney

With certain things, I am a perfectionist. Maybe it's vain of me, but I think I'm a decent writer... I know I shouldn't seek validation at Lit, as it were, but I do. *shrugs* For me, it's just one extra little perk ya know?

Anyway, the point of this thread is to brainstorm ideas that may go over well in that category. :)

From what I can work out you need a slut wife who gets caught and the husband has a wonderful life without her as revenge. He must NOT forgive her in any shape manner or form. He must end up rich and powerful with a doting replacement wife. And wife 1 has to end up as the pathetic old slut at the truck stop in Nowheresville.

Yikes, receiving death threats from writing erotic fiction is a little much. But you are correct, the readers and comments from LW can be weird and harsh. It just seemed like many of the readers took the stories just way too serious.

I wish you luck in that category!!!

Having had some realy harsh emails about my first non-consent story...the protaganist...a married slut wife receive death threats!!

So having got over the shock that there are people, (Use the word loosley) out there that can't seperate fiction from reality I have decided to write the filthiest, dirtiest most pervy stories in the 'worst' categories possible!!! Loving Wives is on the list of course...my 'wife' is going to be such a slut they are going to hate her!!!
