I had always been the perfect family man, helping my family with whatever they asked, whenever they asked. The typical nice guy. I worked as an engineer and balanced it well with my family commitments.

I have a friendly, approachable demeanor, with the clean shave and a casual but put-together style,. you know the typical suburban dad style - khakis and polos. My motto is "do good things, and good things will come around". Hence I often contributed to the neighborhood, hosting barbecue parties, supporting with renovations of patios, and being the football coach etc. To cut it short, if someone needed help, they came to me.

My wife Jane is a schoolteacher, and together we have two children. In my opinion we were the perfect team, managing our chores and responsibilities with grace and good communication. But I guess all this was a facade.

I was at my brother's house with my kids, helping him build a new deck in his back yard. Jane couldn't come with since she had to grade some papers with a colleague. When we were about to cut the wood, I noticed I forgot to pack some electrical tools. I jumped in the car and went back home. I pulled up in the driveway, seeing a car I hadn't seen before. It must be Jane's colleague, I went inside to introduce myself. They were not in the living room, not in the back. My heart sank. I went slowly up the stairs, and then I could hear it. Moaning and the rhythmic noise of bodies slapping together. I just turned and went back to my car.

I just went for a drive, feeling empty, my world shattered. I turned into a shell of my former self, which went on for a few days, When Jane asked, I just said I was under the weather and shut myself in the guest bedroom. Eventually the sadness turned to anger. It's almost like I flipped a switch in my mind. I started working out more, which paid off. I also changed my style, instead of that clean shave, khakis and polos. I kept a perfectly trimmed 5 o'clock shadow, and got a fashionable, new wardrobe. I worked more, pushing for that promotion I was long overdue. My whole demeanor changed, I got more respect, all kinds of women started to look at me differently, both neighbors, moms to the kids at football practice, even younger women on the street turned their heads sometimes. I had not yet swayed from my marriage, neither had I filed for a divorce. But the temptations were there in form of women, and they were mine for the taking.
