What subtle things put an unexpected smile on your face?

It kinda puts a smile on my face opening the GB when it says (69 viewing) for some reason😎

One time I was heading uphill toward a crest out in the boonies. It was hot and the trail was on the south side of the ridge so the sun was just pounding on my back with no respite. No wind, just me and a solar oven most people call a hillside in So Cal.

At the top, there's a sign which says you're entering a wilderness area. I stopped to take a pic of the sign and have a drink before heading on down the trail. As I was dropping my pack, a tiny little breeze came up the other side of the ridge smelling like green growing things, shade, and cool water.

There I was hot, sweaty, and miles from nowhere, and still many more miles yet to go before setting up camp, and that stupid breeze put a smile on my face.

I can still remember the feeling to this day.

I came home yesterday and a friend had been over all day while I was away and cut down a beetle kill. I had to look for which one was missing that was how cleaned up he’d done. I could still smell freshly cut wood.

Only one tree, you're lucky.

Ha! No, there’s probably 10 more to go...but for another day. He and his brother had time for one.

There's a couple of logging truckloads of them on the land at my cabin. I'd smile to see them magically gone. There's way more wood than I can burn in the stove up there.

*AHEM!*

Dead trees are not "subtle things". (hint hint)
