Is it possible to subscribe to a thread without getting the emails? I like the convenience of going to my CP and calling up all the threads I like and seeing what's new, but I don't like the 80 odd emails every day. I've tried going to the settings and turning off email notification, I never click the email notification in any of my posts, but they still send em anyway. I think I may just have to tell my spam blocker that anything from Lit is to be tossed out. Or am I missing the obvious?

You are not missing the obvious. The email notification is a built-in feature of subscribing to a thread. What I do is send all my email from Lit to a separate folder along with other suspected unsolicited messages where I periodically review for gems and then delete the contents.

Ah well that's what I thought. I'll try something like you did. Thanks for the help!

Subscribing to a thread is a request to be notified when the thread is active -- i.e. a request for the e-mails. The only way to end them is to unsubscribe from the thread.

An e-mail filter to sort out the thred notices from therest of your e-mail is simple, but youstill have to download the e-mails.

An alternative to subscription is to add the thread to a "subscriptions folder" in your favorites list. That removes the annoying e-mails and still gives you a way to stay on top of threads you're interested in. When a thread finally dies, deleting the link from your favorites is only a couple of clicks that you don't even need to log into Lit to accomplish.
