Submission Format Question

I did make the submission just now, everything seemed like it uploaded okay and I filled everything out.

Only now I realize I probably should've asked first but wasn't thinking about it.

I used Open Office as my editor of choice so it saves in .odt format. I've always taken it for granted it'd be a doc format but not so sure now since there was a bunch of gibberish there on the preview page.

If I need to change the format specifically for Word, is there a quick conversion for OO to do that? I did attempt just now to save as .doc and it keeps saving as .odt regardless. Not sure how to remedy that or if I need to at all. I want to keep my styles/format if possible. A straight .txt doesn't and pasting it in there doesn't.

Thanks

If you go to File - Save As, you get a list of file types including .doc and .docx. Select .doc and click save. It will then prompt you if you really want to save in .doc. Choose 'Keep Current Format'.

There something wrong there.. It should definitely let you save as .doc and not keep getting converted back to ODF.

When I do it, I get the following two options
1) Keep Current Format (save as .doc)
2) Save in ODF Format

Ah, that worked. I resubmitted with edit and it seemed to go through just fine.

Thanks again for your help.

All over now but the crying! :D

Now, so as not to waste a perfectly good thread...I hijack it for another Q&A

So where's a good place for actually free images used for covers? That's a whole new ballgame...I need to bone up! Suggestions welcome!
