What are the dumbest dissertations you have ever heard? A friend of mine did one titled, "A study of social dynamics of small, isolated groups". It is a study of Gilligan's Island. Swear to God. He passed. Have you got any good ones? It is time to bash the educational systems of the world!

"The Breakdown of the PNP Three-Way-Gate by Foreign Object Syndrome in Silicon Wafer Chips". I would tell you what it was about but you really don't want to know. Trust me.

Breakdown

What sort of foreign object could you possibly get inside a transistor on a chip? Might be a stupid dissertation, but I'm interested in the summary.

Ok more people asked for an explanation than did not ask (2-1). Here it is:

I had to attend a conference talk given by a scientist from Intel (15 years ago) pertaining to the construction of computer chips. There was a belief that when the chips were made in the "clean room" that they could never be 100% perfectly clean or free from defects. Therefore, what foreign objects and what amount of foreign objects could be tolerated without ruining the resultant chip. The study mostly focused on something called "electron dust" as the foreign object. What followed was about 2.5 hours of nothing but complex math formulas and supposition. The conclusion was that the probability of this happening was .000008 which was in the safe range.

In other words the whole talk was a waste of my time.

Do you mean "microcosms" CB? A microchasm could be defined as a crack.
