Stuck in pending

Look in the Authors' Hangout for many different threads on this subject. It won't be long before you find that the current conventional wisdom is that after a few weeks, you could break out of the "permanently pending" situation, which is variously regarded as either a site bug or an editorial process breakdown, by deleting your pending story and resubmitting a copy of it as if it were the first time.

"Permanently pending" is not deliberate. Older advice to never re-submit was valid, as it causes you to lose your place in the queue. It still is valid advice for pending less than 15 days. But when you're "permanently pending," which I define as over 30 days, you aren't in a queue and don't have a place to lose. So, resubmitting gains you a place in line again, and hopefully the bug won't get you again.

Also when doing that, include a statement in the Notes to editor field explaining that you have done this and how long you waited before doing it. The note probably won't influence how they handle your story the second time around, but it will create visibility into the occurrence of this bug and the fact that you're working around it.

I have 4 stories pending for 2 months now 🤣 anyone willing to help out
You and a bunch of other people, unfortunately. The best advice is to delete the story (completely, using the settings wheel), then resubmit. That doesn't always work, but it's your best bet.

OTOH, I had a story stuck in pending for seven weeks. I deleted and resubmitted, then it sat in pending for another month. I deleted it. I have not resubmitted it.

Thanks I will try that!

im trying to publish for 1 month my first chapter and i still cannot, it is either on "pending" or on "sending back" and i do not unerstand why, since i do over and over again all the things the messages are telling me, but i have seen stories with not a single paragrah here and there on the site so i do not understand how they are publishing their stories and i can't for 1 month, and its not like i have other options to publish elsewhere or feel comfortable about it.
