Stuck at the greyed out pending.

I'm in the process of submitting a longer series. I've been submitting one chapter a day for twenty days now. Went well until chapter 14, with a new chapter being approved almost every day.

But, chapter 15 didn't come up the 29th, and is still stuck with a greyed out: 08/29/10 pending(greyed out)

(Chapter 16 is at: 08/30/10 pending(greyed out), and, luckily, hasn't come up yet either)

Has anybody else had this problem?

Do I need to do something? Or should I just wait and see what happens?

I'm worried that my very few and precious readers will lose patience with me and stop looking for it, or, worse, that the chapters will start coming on in the wrong order and ruin the reading experience.

(P. S. Chapter 17 is 08/31/10 pending(greyed out) Ch. 18-20 are still at 'Awaiting approval' with a bright blue pending.)

(P. P. S please forgive me if I sound odd, strange, or aggressive. I have a personality disorder, that makes it very difficult for me to communicate with strangers. Me and forums are generally a disaster.)

I don't think any regular readers will be put off by a few day's delay. Some stick around for hiatuses between chapters that go on for months. What I do, if it's any help, is that I don't submit a new chapter until the previous one has posted. That way I can be sure everything is falling in the right order. And it's then only three or four days between posting of chapters.

I don't think I'd come back every day to catch up on a chapter in something that's running longer than twenty chapters.

Thank you. It does sound wiser to do it that way. I guess it really was risky of me to do it this way.

(My ten readers do seem to return every day, but, of course, they haven't reached chapter 20 yet, and chapter 20 is not the end.)

If your 10 readers vote the chapter a 5 each time, you're in real luck.

Relax; you're among friends.
You're communicating quite well.
:)

That's odd. I was fairly certain that the pre-approved ( dated but not yet "accepted" ) stories were in a queue that automatically went live at precisely midnight on the date in question. Perhaps the manual insertion of summer contest stories buggered up the queue?

You'll want to send a PM to Laurel ( Laurel's Profile ) and let her know what happened. Make sure that she knows you have other dated but not yet live stories as well, so she can make sure that they don't go up before the earlier chapter.

When a story has a date and greyed out "pending" there is an automatic script that is supposed to pick up the pre-approved stories at midnight. For some reason, that script either didn't run or failed to pick up your stories on the appropriate dates.

PM Manu and/or Laurel and quote your first post. Manu is the technical admin so he's the one who needs to know a script isn't working right.

While I slept.

They got up while I slept, all three of them :) phew.

Ten does five, two does four, and, occasionally one pops by to hand me a tree (eh three).

"But I try not to watch the votes too much," she said and cringed.

Some expression passed over her face. Maybe guilt. Maybe shame. Whatever it was, it made her blush.

Thank you :rose:

It is always a relief to learn that up until that point I didn't mess up. Maybe I will manage to escape unscathed this time. At least there is hope.

Just a few more replies, then I can run back into hiding.

Thank you so very much for the link and the information. I've bookmarked the link to Laurel's profile in case of future problems.

The chapters are all three up now, they came up while I slept.

Thank you so very much for the information.

The stories came up while I slept, but it is very nice to know what to do next time something glitches.

Thank you so much, everyone. You've been very kind.

I'll run back into hiding now.

Bye bye. Take care.

Hugs and kisses for all of you.
