The con artist has a new feather to put in his cap as he once again outdoes Obama. For the first time in the history of this country, our national debt now exceeds $21 trillion.

The landmark comes shortly after Congress passed, and Mr. Trump signed, a suspension on the federal debt limit last month, allowing the government to borrow an unlimited amount of money until March 1, 2019.

Republicans railed against the national debt level under the Obama administration, when it jumped from $10.6 trillion to $19.9 trillion, nearly doubling, but few have been as outspoken about the situation with Republicans controlling Capitol Hill and the White House. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, held up the spending bill last month on the Senate floor, blistering Republicans for doing exactly what they had criticized the Obama administration for doing.

"I ran for office because I was critical of President Obama's trillion-dollar deficits," Paul said at the time. "Now we have Republicans hand-in-hand with Democrats offering us trillion-dollar deficits."

Let us congratulate the con artist for once again showing he can do it better than Obama.

So, what does the Tea Party have to say about that?

Same thing the democrats say......

Debt is wonderful as long as it's their party that's incurring it. ;)

I hope everyone has financially secured their shit, cuz when this 21 Trillion dollar turd starts to crown it's going to be real real bad for those who haven't.

And Rand Paul-who also had come up with a fairly decent replacement for O-care- is probably viewed by Trump yahoos as a 'democrat disguised as a republican' and will try and back another R candidate to take his place in the 2018 mid terms.

Repugs hate having their BS called out, especially by the decent Republicans-and there are some believe it or not-who they see as being detrimental to their cause.

The real reason Republicans hate Obamacare so much is because it was Republicans who came up with the idea. More specifically, it was the Heritage Foundation who explicitly stated people should be forced to hand over their money to private industry for no reason:

http://americablog.com/2013/10/original-1989-document-heritage-foundation-created-obamacares-individual-mandate.html

I have a copy of the Heritage Foundation document (all 10.9 MB of it) and there a lot of goodies in it which Obama took almost word for word. That of course infuriates Republicans because they're getting what they proposed be done.

P.S. I don't support mandated health insurance. It costs more per year for the average person than if they paid their medical bills out of their own pockets. This was nothing but a big money grab, promoted by Republicans, for the healthcare insurance industry.

This is funny. Minimizing the debt President Obama saddled our grandchildren with "Trump is worse!" It's funny how when Obama was President, all of that spending and debt had the "multipliers" that were going to rocket us into prosperity, but when if failed to happen, it was Bush's fault, he left the economy in such bad shape. So after eight years of deficit spending being pretty much a thing of no concern, we are now suddenly concerned?
I'm not happy about any of the debt, but this is not an economic thread, but a political thread. But to celebrate its growth after eight years of accepting it? That's just hypocrisy.

Nobody's "celebrating the growth" of the debt here.

Just acknowledging the absolute silence of those who were wailing about it all the time before when it's objectively worse now under their shitty orange-flavored despot.

You should go read the Doom & Gloom Economic thread. There was this ignorant jackass named Frisco_Slug who was wrong on just about every one of his predictions regarding the collapse that never happened. You two would get along famously!

To "beat" Obama, Trump would have to preside over a debt of nearly 40 trillion after eight years. Because math.

Didn't Obama have to clean up the expensive messes the previous tenant left behind?

If you're worse off now than you were when Bush was POTUS, it's you're own damn fault. That's why these whiny jackasses hate Obama and love the empty promises of economic fortune from 45. You'll notice it's the perpetually unemployed on this board that swims in 45's bullshit.

No. The legislation was put into place and the economy was rebounding well before President Obama was sworn in.

Y'all have fun with this motherfucker, I gots a sunny Sunday to get with instead of this blatant online-only bullshit. :D

Lolololololololololololol

Reminds me when people say the special election in PA wasn't about the con artist and wasn't that big a deal even though Republicans poured nearly $20 million into the race in a district the con artist won by 20%.

The sort of economic drag caused by the anchor that the ACA is? That sort of thing?

You can buy a lot of mops for the ten trillion dollars spent.

To be fair, the Republicans own that. They should have refused to fund the Pelosi/Reid/Obama budget when they took power and shut down the government until an appropriate budget was agreed upon.

Republicans 100% own the current budget, which is inexcusably large. It is not, however, in excess of the rate.of increase or as a percentage of population or GDP that Obama's was despite the histrionic flailings of the OP.
