Stranded in nowhere...

The day's sweltering heat was a challenge for Lisa as she flipped up the hood of her all ready way too old car. It was bad enough it didn't have an a/c but to have died down on the side of a back road was the worst.

Well, this was bad so things could only get better from here right? Wrong. Her cell phone didn't have a signal and she hadn't seen anyone pass by for the last 20 minutes. Damnit, she wished she had listened to her father when he told her to get a new car, not some used one because it looked good.

"Shit..." she muttered as she looked down at the over heated engine. Perhaps all she needed to do was give it some time to cool down then try to see how much further it would take her..perhaps it would make it to a station? Perhaps not.

Pushing herself away from the engine, she stood and leaned against the side of the car and waited. Maybe someone would come along, maybe not.

It was a hot, smuggy day on this random desert highway. Jack Cooper was at least 50 miles from anything has he drove his classic '69 Corvette along at 90 miles per hour, easily 25 MPH over the speed limit. The muscular man settled back in the leather seat and held the steering wheel with one hand, while the other rested on the shift stick. The radio was tuned to a classic rock channel, but it was hard to hear anything over the roar of the Chevy Big Block V8.

Suddenly, he saw something in the distance, on the side of the road. He could barely make it out, but at first glance, it looked like a cop. He suddenly sat up straight, hit the breaks and downshifted to a lower gear. He slowed down to about 50 mph, and as he got closer, he saw it was an older car, with a woman standing next to it. He raised his mirroed sunglasses and grinned to himself as he passed her and pulled off the side of the road, just in front of her. He shut off the engine, and stepped out.

He turned back to the woman and started heading towards her. "Having car trouble?" he asked the woman as he approached her with a smile.
