Well it doesn't take much more than a web search or a smartphone app to find gay dating/hookup sites.

I've used some of them, mainly to see if any friends are on.

But really best way to meet and chat with other gay men, in a relatively safe environment is your local gay bar/restaurant bar. Even if its not a gay bar per se, many of the trendier places have been adopted by us, so a new single guy sitting alone at a bar is going to get chatted up pretty quickly

The personals scene is a mess if you're just sort of "dipping your toe in" but it can work. I have used adultfriendfinder and oddly I got as many views from men when I was looking specifically for a female playmate. I met a couple guys that I didn't click with at all, but then met one in particular that was PERFECT! Just a guy like me looking for a friendly hook-up. I've also used OutPersonals with some luck also, but that worked better for dating than for casual encounters.
