Hello. I've been through the Forum and the pages about story Tags and haven't found a discussion or hints on this, so I thought I'd run it up the flagpole here.

I'm working on a story where my protagonist is a bisexual female, she meets another woman and decides she's going to seduce that woman. After they meet there is a scene written as if they are having sex and part of that includes my protagonist being vaginally fisted by the woman she met.

However, the whole scene is a fantasy, the protagonist is masturbating and she's imagining what she wants to do with her new crush. For plot reasons these two never actually get to any fisting although plenty of fun is had by various characters.

Now, tags. If I include "lesbian fisting" is that a no-no as it doesn't actually happen? The scene as written is meant to deceive the reader for a while so it's described as if it's happened until it's made clear it's all been a fantasy. I see nothing wrong about writing the scene that way so my question is solely about the tags.

This level of a character fantasizing isn't something I've done in a story here as yet so I'm curious what other, more experienced folks, might have done.

I guess with ten tags (or whatever the limit is these days, I don't know) it comes down to the number of kinks and enticements you've got in the story overall, and how many you want to advertise. I don't think readers are going to split hairs over a scene being fantasy or part of your "live" action. It's all a story, after all, and if the scene is hot, it's hot.

Ask yourself this: what are the hottest and most erotic elements of your story? If they are in a scene within a scene, don't hesitate to use them as tags just because that scene is a fantasy. If you think they are a big part of what will turn readers on in your story, then use them as tags. Use tags to maximize the number of readers who will enjoy your story.

After all, the whole story is a fantasy!

I'll toss my support behind the previous comments. A reader's nit-picking fetish would have to be severe to be bothered by a tag. They'd really be splitting hairs to say it wasn't appropriate for the story.

I've had stories with plot holes and inaccuracies that I was sure I'd be called out on, but it hasn't happened yet. You're far more likely to get hate from a grammar fetishist than a tag purist. (If "tag purist" is even a thing.)

You mean like the multi-day, multi-page grammar discussion dissecting independent clauses, semi-colons and what 'and' means?

That aside, I pledge here and now to somehow include the phrase "tag purist" in a future story.

A goal! I have a goal! I have meaning in my life.

Better a conflicted semicolon than an obstructed colon. And more.

"Tag purist"? That's more ambiguous than "tag nazi" which fortunately is also not a thing. If those were things... [/me shudders]

A goal! I have a goal! I have meaning in my life.
You raise an important point. What is the purpose of life? To find a purpose! Or a porpoise. Maybe tag a porpoise. Play tag with a porpoise. Right.

ObTopic: I try to devise eye-catching tags for stories. I warn up front:
Disclaimers: This fictional vacuous stroker's fuckers are over 18 and shun condoms. Tags: father-daughter, mother-son, mother-daughter, brother-sister, twin sisters, fuckfest, bisexual, pregnancy, atonement, gyroplane. If you object, stop reading.
Or I'll warn that the story is sick and not really erotic, and I'll get complaints that it's sick and not erotic. Go figure.
