Story review...

I just finished the beginning of a new story, and I was wondering if I could get someone to look over it. I am trying to start it in a different way, but I am too close to the story as a whole, to know if the beginning really grabs your attention.

At this point, it doesn't really fit into any category. Better yet, it fits into almost any category. Could anyone give me a hand?
