My story was rejected and the reason given was my character is underaged. That's not accurate. He's 23. I'm so confused at this point. Who would I contact regarding this mix up? Oh, and it states he came into the care of his caregiver at 3 and lived with them for 20yrs.

I think a computer programme is used to do initial screening. Suggest you just resubmit, pointing out in the admin box the paragraphs which show the protagonist is of legal age.

Good luck. Let us know when it gets posted.

It also helps to add a “disclaimer” at the beginning of your story that all characters in sex scenes are over 18. Probably not needed, but helps to speed things through. Best of luck!

As TP suggested, stories often get rejected for under-age by accident - mentioning ages under 18 often seems to trigger this - and if that's the issue, then you don't need to change the text, just use the Notes field to let Laurel (the story moderator) know that it's a false alarm.

However, be aware that Laurel defines "sex" broadly. Anything with an under-18 character masturbating, watching others having sex, entertaining sexual fantasies, or being the subject of somebody else's lustful thoughts is likely to be rejected. Brief, non-explicit mention at the level of "I had lost my virginity at 16" is usually accepted, but anything beyond that will get rejected even if there's no penis-in-vagina action.

In my God Mother store I start when the male protagonist is young, under age, but it's all just back story with no sex even chapter two, after his 18th birthday. I put a note in the note to admin and it went through first time.
