Brilliantly and succinctly put by The Earl
I have to say being an author (even in the loosest sense of the word) has ruined my enjoyment of Lit stories. I'm always pulling apart new stories. Either they've got worse, or I've become more critical.
This is why I don't read very much. It's painful. So, I figured that some of us know a gem or two in the rough. We've come across stories that we adored and managed to enjoy despite the totally critical eye we jaded writers pick up once we start trying to understand what makes good writing.
So here's the thread.
And there will be rules.
1. Sorry for yelling, but DO NOT POST YOUR OWN WORK. That's incredibly rude and I, for one, will never give you a critique of any sort no matter how nice you ask. I would also hope that other authors would be so kind as to join me in the cut direct. This thread wasn't created to feed egos or market your work. Do so in the Story Feedback forum.
1a. Sorry for yelling again, but DO NOT POST YOUR BUDDY'S WORK UNLESS IT'S OUTSTANDING This is, likewise, incredibly rude. This thread wasn't created for marketing purposes.
2. Please include the following information:
- Title
- Author
- Link
- Category
- A brief personal recommendation
3. I think chatting in this thread is okay, if we chat about the stories. However, lets not do feedback. I think this thread is better off as a place where writers can go to pick up a good story to read rather than as a place where they might find more demands on their time for feedback.
4. Um, post a story.
