Do you read the stories and poems posted on this site?

How often do you send feedback? Do you vote? If no to either, please explain why. Would anything motivate you to do differently?

If your answer is yes, what elicits a response from you?

Thanks.

Peace,

daughter

I read many stories & poems

:) but not when I am writing myself, yes?:) I can not:)

But of course I vote:) but I choose to vote only good:) If I do not like, I do not vote.:)

I send feedback,yes:)

I try to read the stories. though I've read verry few. Not that I don't want to it just takes me forever to read one.

I do vote if I think it was really good or really bad. don't think i've ever given a 3 vote before :) the 3 stories I tend to just not even vote for.... yes I know strange and stupid.

If I like the story I will vote, and I do send feedback.

I know that if/when my story is read I would like them to vote and send feedback for me, so it seems fair that I do it to them...

Do unto others as you would have done to you and all that!

:)

vivacia & Fly

If you only vote on what you like, how will the author know they may need to work harder on some aspect of their writing?
Is the writer to assume that no feedback means the story is no good?

What does a story need to be good in your opinion?

I have some ideas what writers try to accomplish and how. We talk among ourselves regularly. I'm wondering what the reader who might not be a writer thinks.

Thanks.

Peace,

daughter

I've never voted, but I started a thread in the story feedback section, especially to give feedback to authors of the type of story I like.

I'm definitely a reader, not a writer, and like Fly_On_Wall, it takes me a long time to get through a good story (probably for the same obvious reason).

sorry, ment to answer that part of the question in my first post but I forgot (short attention span lol)
and I didn't say I only vote for good stories, If it's bad I say that and vote that way.

what I think a story needs to get my attention. Yes I know they erotic sotries.. but they need an actual backgrownd for me. Not just sex from begining to end. and detail so I can actualy visualise what the autor wanted us to see. but then again too much detail is bad cause then it's tearing from the story itself unless that detail is relevent.
I also don't like long stories. If it's too long i'll never be able to finish it (these story I don't vote for cause I really can't tell if it's good or bad I didn't see the whole thing.) so I don't mind the ones that are choped into chapters. then I can read each one as seperat stories.

so I know it contradicts itself, but what makes a story good for me is indepth but not too long.

(I hope that is what you were asking)

I don't read stories too often anymore, but when I do, I try to vote. I also try to offer nay constructive criticism I can to help improve it, or if I can't, I either sned a "great story" kind of message or something along those lines. The ones that make me so angry are the ones who come along and "1" everything just for shits and giggles and don't even bother sending feedback. It's pretty obvious when you've been 1'd when your story drops way down in ranking and there's only been a few votes. :(

For close to a year before I registered, all I did was read the stories. I attempted to send feedback to every piece I read. Since, my registration and interaction on the BB, I have slacked a bit.
I'll try to do better, in the future.

I hate all the stories and especially the poetry. I never give any feedback and am totally antiparticipatory<wow what a great word>

Poetry is for nerds that get off on that twit shakespear<sp>....

I don't even know how you could even write this thread daughter. Why don't you go write something like a bus driving manual.

:D :D :D

It's all good

Folks--

Not upset or criticizing anyone. It seems the majority of the readers are non-members. Since many of them don't reply, I thought to ask the community their views on the writing here.

Thanks for responding. Everybody but the Drunna wannabe. ;)

Peace,

daughter

Yes I read, but not as much since my problems began.

And yes, I always vote, but if I cant think of something nice to say about it,I dont send feedback.

I do read some stories and a lot of the poetry here at Lit, most often because I recognize the author from either chat or the boards. The writings I do are for myself, so I'm not bothered by the "score", but I do enjoy receiving feedback.

I vote for everything I read, good or bad, but only send feedback to those that have touched me (or sometimes disturb me) by their writings. I'm not always familiar with the different topics authors select to write about, and will admittedly give up on a story if I find it doesn't hold my interest.

Almost always

Do you vote?

Yes

If no to either, please explain why. Would anything motivate you to do differently?

Almost anything. I love that fact that some many people share their writing/poetry with us all here at Lit. I like to encourage others to write and share.
Writing is an inspiration for me. I love to write and would like as many people as possible to enjoy that feeling.

I read all the time. I have to admit, though, I only send feedback if I can think of something constructive and potentially useful to say. As full of shit as I am, that's not terribly often. I do, though, send people the usual "nice work" if I enjoyed the read.

And I always vote. Good, bad, or indifferent, I try to give everyone at least *that* much response.
