I'm back with another update on the upcoming Lit Category Hubs feature that we are getting ready to launch.

Thank you to everyone who tested the last version of the feature and sent feedback. There were some pretty major bugs that people here on the forum caught and I really appreciate it.

Now we think we've fixed all of those bugs (and quite a few more) and we're getting ready for the big launch.

But first, I wanted to share the latest links with you so that you can all take another look and let me know if you find anything else that looks like a bug. I think the only change to these pages - other than the bug fixes - is that you can see the number of Favorites on the listing for each story (look next to the little heart icon). Other than that, they should be the same as the last ones you saw, minus the bugs.

Here is a link to every Category Hub that we are are getting ready to launch. If you find anything at all that you think it a bug - even just spelling errors - please let me know:

Thanks. Looks great. The addition of the number times the story has been favorited is very nice. I'd think that would be one of the best signals to readers of good stories--even more than the ratings, as those are more easily manipulated.

Good Job

The only thing I saw was the incest was left off the taboo story category name. The category name should be the same everywhere, right.

Thanks for the feedback so far, everyone!

I'm digging it so far, haven't found any bugs. Will be sure to let you know.

A sub-feature of the new Category Hubs are the new per-category feedback portals.

For example:

http://www.literotica.com/c/bdsm-stories/comments
http://www.literotica.com/c/loving-wives/comments
http://www.literotica.com/c/gay-sex-stories/comments

If any of you have a spare moment, please have a look at the comment portal for your favorite category and let me know if you find any problems. You can reach these pages by going to the Category Hub (all of them are linked in the first post in this thread) and clicking on the "More Comments" link at the bottom of the "Recent Comments" section on the right side of the page.

One of the cool features here is the list of the top commenting users in each category in the last Day, Week and Month.

Again, any feedback or bug reports will be highly appreciated as we are getting very close to rolling these out to the general public.

Thank you! :D

Alphabetical Titles

I believe that someone else mentioned tihs in the previous thread on the new category hubs. The select by first letter of the title feature does not work perfectly. It seems to point to a page of stories that contains the first story beginning with the letter selected, but some number of stories on the page begin with the previous letter of the alphabet. No big deal once you realize this, but a bit off-putting to a new or impatient reader who clicks on the letter S and gets Rubber Band Man as his or her first choice.

Other than that, it looks great. Very handy and a fun browsing tool.

Can't find anything buggy after playing around with the hub/comment portals for a while. Looks good :D

Why are some of the "number of times favorite" hearts red and others are gray? Is there a distinction I am missing or is it just a quirk?

I love the new hubs, but could we have more new stories in the list or a "more new stories" button? It would be nice if two or three days worth of new stories were shown so that I don't miss any just because I skipped a day or two.

It's very nice. Thanks.

 I don't see any red hearts anywhere. They're all gray.

Oh, when you mouseover them, they turn red, but should turn off when you move the mouse. If they aren't for you, there may be a browser/os conflict of some kind.

Why are some of the "number of times favorite" hearts red and others are gray? Is there a distinction I am missing or is it just a quirk?

Dear MANU,

Well my friend you now have crammed the following onto these new pages:

1. New Stories (the last couple of days? Listed in no particular order?)
2. Contest Winners (randomly selected? No button to click to see other winners))
3. Random Stories (plus the ability to click open more randomly selected choices)
4. Recent Comments plus click to get the following:
------4.a. Latest 15 comments
------4.b. Most comments – today – 7 days – 30 days
------4.c. Trending commentators – today – 7 ddays – 30 days
5. Highest Rated Stories of all time (you call them Hall of Fame)
6. Popular Tags (plus an ability to click open even more tags)
7. Recently Popular – today – 7 days – 30 days
8. Popular Authors – today – 7 days – 30 days

Quick observations:

One: When you open these pages there’s still no explanation of what all these little icons and numbers to the right of the story mean. I thought my previous suggestion could have answered this problem.

Two: Overall, to me anyway, the page is a mess (I say this even though others above report that it looks wonderful to them?). I know nothing about web page design but I can tell you that this one is not attractive. There’s no flow to it. It’s very difficult to read. Surely there are people available who could help design a page to make it more readable.

Three: CONTENT: Recently popular today? I got to think that would be covered by the New Stories list.
Trending Commentators? What possible interest could this be to our readers?
Popular authors today and over the last 7 and 30 days?

Surely of more interest to our readers are who are the most POPULAR AUTHORS and stories in the various categories over the ‘last year’ and ‘all time’!

Surely they’d be more interested in a list showing the most FAVORITED stories over the ‘last year’ and ‘all time’ in a category!

Surely they’d be more interested in seeing the most COMMENTED ON stories in that category over the ‘last year’ and of ‘all time’.

And surely they’d be more interested in seeing the most VOTED ON stories in that category over the ‘last year’ and for ‘all time’.

It seems to me you’ve done a lot of work but while doing it you forgot who you were doing it for. It looks like you fell into the trap so many techies make – you get so excited about the technical details of what you’re doing (the programming, etc. in this case) that the objective gets lost.

It’s a start but there’s still a long way to go if you really want to service the sites customers.

No scouries, he is designing the page for the real readers and writers of this site not your trumped up and faked trash. Go play with your sour grapes somewhere else like your fantasy world.

Thirty day comments list

I took a look at one of the comments pages today (romance). The thirty day comments list looks a little out of order; the fourth, fifth, and sixth ranked stories have seventeen, nineteen, and eighteen comments, respectively. All of these comments were made within the last thirty days (all of the stories were published in the last few weeks).

I don't know if there's a bug or I'm missing something obvious, but I thought I'd mention it.
