Hey guys & gals. :)

In an effort to get the SDC up and moving again (thanks to comments made in the thread started by Elianna), Laurel asked for volunteers to moderate the forum and attempt to revive critiques and discussions. I volunteered to help. (It would be great if one other person would also volunteer so there would be two active mods working on the revival. :) )

There's a new critique queue thread up. Please someone come on over and volunteer to have your story critiqued. :)

Also, I started a writing discussion thread on theme. Please come over and add your thoughts. :)

Have you talked with Penny about this? Has she given up her role as moderator?

It was requested by Laurel in the linked thread in the first post that someone volunteer to help out. I'm not making changes to the way the forum works or to what the other moderators have done in the past. Not trying to step on anyone's toes here. Just trying to help.

I wasn't suggesting anything of the sort. Just asking a question.

Carry on then.

Just a note of clarification: Penny and Pure are both still moderators. Laurel hasn't removed them. She just added me. I'm not sure what her intentions are for the future.

Mistress Lynn has been brave enough to step forward for a critique. Hope y'all will come over once she posts her thread and give your thoughts!

SDC is a great place to broaden your relationship with writing, and writers. Writers generally write within their comfort zone, I found giving honest and open critique on stories outside your personal comfort zone particularly helpful. It made me consider story structure and ways of telling/showing that I might not have come to had I not involved myself in critique. There is a thread/post - I think Pure put it up - about the etiquette of Critique, well worth reading (for both Writers & Critics) if you've not done that kind of public exposure before. Can't make any promises to get involved in SDC right now, but I'll try to get back there one of these days.

I agree with neon. It's very helpful. I suggest if you wander over to submit a story for critique give feedback on a couple of other stories, at least as a courtesy - also helps keep the ball rolling.

And views and opinions are welcome from all.

Penny and Pure are still around.

I think it's more that there hasn't really been anything to moderate of late.

Would be good to see some stories up on the dissection board.

yes, the mods of SDC are alive, thank you.

i am around and involved. i will be coordinating with crimson. penny is tied up at the moment.

i don't think a fourth mod is necessary, though we have always had helpers such as keepers of the library.

Anyone up for a critique? There's no one in line at the moment, so head on over to the SDC and sign up in the Queue thread to have your story critiqued! :)
