HI, I'm a new author to Literotica but a long time reader.

I've posted my first story (or Chapter 01 therof) but have been trying to discover somewhere on the site what the usual time line is for approvals and posting of stories for readers.

Maybe some older (experienced) athour who have been submitting for some tiem can help.

Have searched the "submission guidelines" and FAQ but there doesn't seem to be any guidance for writers/submitters there.

So the part in The FAQ that says (below) wasn't visible enough for you?
# How long will it take for my story to be posted?

This depends on how many stories we're currently receiving. We try to balance it so that submissions are posted as quickly as possible without overloading the reader and possibly burying your story. A story submitted to Literotica through the procedure outlined above generally will be posted to Lit within 3-7 days.

If we have problems with your story which prevent its publication (i.e. technical issues, etc.), we will let you know via an email to the address on your profile. If a story is submitted strictly via email without following the procedure above, then your story may take weeks to be posted. We highly recommend you follow the steps above.

It takes between 51840 and 120960 seconds.

Ooh, you put him in his place, yessiree, pig.

It takes longer for a new author, and longer when there's a contest going on (like right now), unless you're entering the contest. I would guess that five to seven days is more accurate at this point. If you go back and make changes to the story, it will go to the end of the line, taking even longer. So don't do that.

Welcome to the AH. Ignore the sarcasm. Enjoy the experience.

Hi Electrosex and welcome to the AH. :rose: You have just asked what is otherwise known as "The Question," and will now be razzed by an assortment of the inmates. :D Don't worry. Most all of us asked "The Question" at some point during our first story posting.

One point though. If you look at your member profile where you submitted your story, you'll see a link where you can view it. Don't do that. Every time you open your story, it goes to the back of the line. Unless you have a really glaring error, like you forgot to post half of it, leave it alone. Now just sit back, keep your fingers in feet inside the vehicle at all times, and enjoy the ride. :cattail:

Over the past year I've noticed that it takes about 3 days for a story I've submitted to be approved. This process has gotten quicker. It used to take a good 7 days for one of my stories to be approved (or sometimes rejected). I can only guess and attribute this decrease in time to either the editors spending less time reading, there being more of them, or fewer submissions for them to slog through. I don't know... Literotica works in mysterious ways for me. :) But, as others have mentioned, during the waiting process if you click on the 'Pending' hyperlink, your story will fall to the bottom of the pile, so try to resist the temptation to do this -- as I have done over time. One telltale sign that your story is due to appear, probably the next day, is that the Pending hyperlink has changed to plain text and it shows that one or more persons has viewed it. Check for these magical signs. They bode well.

A welcome  for the little newbie from the good little witch.

Last time I submitted a story here, it took about 4 days, and that was during a contest so it was surprising it was that quick. However, as a few have said, since you're a new author, it may take longer.

I won't re-hash everything else that's been said, except: Welcome to Lit and the AH! :)

Opening it does not send it to the back of the queue, pressing the submit button again does. As long as you just look (or preview) your story without pressing the submit button it will keep it's place in the queue.
