I was just looking at the Romance category, and we need more stories of this type.

Stories of intimacy features the build up of relationships.
Intimacy includes:
Flirtation, informal dates, sexual teasing, naughty and/or playful prepositions, romantic getaways, sexual experimentation, foreplay/sex play (fantasy fulfillment), and a whole lot of masturbation.

This is often best with at least 5 parties, 3 of which are in love or falling in love.
You may even work sex in as a manage experiment or as lesbian entertainment for a voyeuristic man.
This would also be a good place to put in some hand jobs.

I like romance stories, but I like the kind where the two characters fall into bed with each other first, then gradually come to trust and love each other, and usually defend each other against some outside threat.

It looks like you're missing a few steps.

I've seen movies like this after someone gets drunk at a party or something.
Sometimes drugs start the story, but this is rare, because we are out of that whole era ('60s - 90s).
The other kind of storyline is some kind of mistake, where a half asleep man goes into the wrong room, or his neighbor stays overnight and the sleeping arrangements are switched around without him knowing it.

I think the best of these, is the girl/girl best friend scenario, and over the course of the story, they fall in love with each other, generating some of the best steamy scenes in romance fiction.

I don't think I'm missing any steps in my mental model, although of course I didn't explain the whole thing in a 1-sentence post. I'll give an example of the kind of romance I like:

Character A has a terrible reputation and probably looks unusual. Is his reputation deserved? We don't know, it's a mystery. He is passionate and is working very hard and very sneakily to achieve something important to him (but we don't know exactly what, or whather his reason is one we would morally approve of).

Character B is a good person who tries hard, is weary of having too much responsibility, is lonely, and wishes she could escape but has stick with her responsibilities to protect people she cares about and doesn't have anywhere to escape to (or rather, anyone's arms to escape into).

Character A's ambitions threaten Character B's friend (perhaps by trying to trap the friend into an arranged marriage with him). Character B fights against Character A. Everyone else hates Character A and insults him to cheer on Character B, but Character B herself is more openminded. Her instinct is to feel sympathetic towards and even protective of Character A, but she can't let her guard down because she needs to protect her friend.

Character A thinks Character B is an example of just the kind of people who irk him most - an attractive popular goody-two-shoes who would never look at him twice.

Character B finds out that Character A is really lonely and hiding it, just like her. She can't help feeling very attracted to Character A's passion, sneakiness, and woundedness. She realizes that she can escape her responsibilities and end her loneliness while looking heroic if she offers herself in her friend's place. She feels a bit guilty about this and delays while reasearching all angles of the dituation and making sure she really does want to put herself completely in Character A's power and shock her friends (who really are goody-two-shoes). But ultimately she makes her decision and gives herself to Character A in her friend's place. This is how they end up in a sexual relationship while neither knows or trusts the other.

Now some sort of outside threat forces them to work together and develop trust for each other. In particular, Character A has got to get over his feeling that he is unloveable especially by somebody ad 'good' as Character B - he has to learn to see Character B as a person who is quite capable of being sneaky and lonely like him, and realize that Character B truly loves him and isn't just acting. A nice complication here could be Character B discovering she is pregnant.

Then for the climax they have to combine their sneakiness to finally overcome the outside threat. Thoroughly impressed with each others' brilliance, they realize that they really are meant to be life partners. They exchange rings and/or vows and possibly have a baby. Yay happy ending! :cathappy:
