Stop posting! Aaaaargh!

And that's what makes it so annoying to try to get back on topic when the conversation has wandered to hell and high waters. It's not the finding of posts or the noble art of quoting that is the problem. I've got a black belt in quoting. It's the running like mad to catch up with the rest of the conversation that is the real bitch.

I feel your pain. I've been off since last night. I've given up caring. :D

What's happened to CV? He keeps deleting everything before I can read it.

Liar: Just quote the answer to your post in your reply. Joe does it nearly all the time, specially when the horsey, carson et al jump in, in between.

writerly threads eh? those were the days.

Down horsey, down.

Damnit. Where was I when Gauche was telling me to go down?

Now I'm feeling sheepish. Am I barging in on poor Joe's threads? I would hate to tread on his toes, although I certain that it would not in least hinder his wit.

Hindering his wit?
Isn't that like defending a hooker's honor?

Oooh, you're a cruel one tonight Alpaca. Who pissed in your nosebag?

Actually, I find Joe an excellent wrangling partner. With others I miss the purity of clean logic, especially when arguing about emotional topics. I always enjoys his posts for their dedication to consistancy and rigorous application of basic principles. While I agree that pure logic has its limits, I don't feel that people test them nearly often enough.

That said - it's lovely to see your maple leaf again.

I just don't consider it to be a valid argumentative style (or even much fun) if someone will not, even in the face of overwhelming evidence, refuse to entertain even the possiblity that they are wrong. And I don't understand trying to apply pure logic to human behavior since, and this can be validated with very little effort, human beings do NOT actually behave logically!

Hmmm. People keep accusing Joe of that (not backing down when clearly wrong, that is). I can only say that I've never seen him do it - but then, I only read threads whose titles interest me. Admittedly, he can be stubborn - but so far I've only seen him be so when I thought him quite right.

Humans, of course, are illogical little creatures - thank goodness for we equines! But I usually see Joe as arguing about what ought to be or how things can or should go - not what humans are in fact currently doing, which inevitably beggars all description ;)

But let me stop there. I don't want to embarass Joe by having a gender-confused horse singing his praises at too great length. I just happen to enjoy his posts.

(Edited to add: )

(Note to self: singing horses make a very odd mixed metaphor.)

I disagree. The posts I saw of his (before putting him on ignore) tended to start with the concept that the conservative approach/view was correct regardless of evidence, then he went about trying to convince everyone of that . A political platform is, almost by definition, never right 100% of the time. After the "Someone blow this pagan's face off" thread (or similar name), I just had it. It may have become more than a disagreement of style to a dislike of character at that point.

But you're right . . . equines . . . and quadripeds . . . are much more sensible.

I shall be humbly thankful for the fact that there exists no doubt in my mind that this was intended to tantalize me.

How very kind of you.

Sometimes, the truth is much more interesting than fiction!

Hey, Liar, it's happened again! :D

Funny how I notice it when someone points it out. Usually I'm the perp., or at least in the thick of it. ;)

I accept your apology. But I can't talk now, I'm back at w@&k.

Sure. All the Aaaaargh! Aaaaargh! Aaaaargh! Aaaaargh! Aaaaargh! Aaaaargh! Aaaaargh! Aaaaargh! that you want is yours from me, Shanglan.

And what was that about branding in the other thread? Should I heat up some irons and lock you in the barn in chains? Or should we wait for Valentine's Day?

You have no idea how long I've waited to hear those words.
