Not long ago, it was up near 9,000. Now the short-term countertrend has ended, and the long-term trend of decline has resumed. And the full-scale war with Iraq hasn't even begun yet! When it does, the bottom could well fall out of the market, and the economy as a whole. As the old saying goes, "You ain't seen nothin' yet!"
:p

The last time you started a Stock Market thread......it bottomed in 3 days.....

BTW.....History shows.....that the market rallies when war starts....

as it did in '01 and '91

Please dont let facts get in your way

Also note that

Stock Market != Economy

That is not always true....

In fact, there is often a disconnect between the two....

In fact, the market often ANTICIPATES events and possibilities.....

This is correct.

Given that Iraq has a huge untapped percentage of known reserves and the USA hoovers up 25% of the world's production of fossil fuels annually, I suggest that the same people who orchestrated the 9/11 stock pillage are artificially pulling economic levers right now to milk us for enough cash to line their wallets and build out the needed production infrastructure in Iraq when they're done with remapping the Middle East.

Venezuela is likely a fix as well.

It's all a scam. All of it.

A scam being fronted by a puppet half-wit whose SAT scores weren't enough to get him into State college, let alone Yale & Harvard. (diversity my ass)

Two regrets:

1. That most here don't see it;

2. I'm not in on it.

Yeah, Red. The only thing I know that goes down more often that I do.

;)

Lance, you're so full of shit.

To you, the whole world is one big conspiracy. Be careful now, Bush is a secret member of the CLIQUE, but he uses a different name on Lit and we're not telling you which one of us he is.

Judo

Hey, Judo, great to see you here! You mainly post on the poetry board. Everyone please give a big welcome to JUDO, a fine poet and short story writer, and a great gal too!

Now as far as the stock market being the only thing that goes down faster than you do-- that sounds like a challenge to me, hon! I go down pretty fast myself.
:p

Ironic.....

Just as you opened your mouth

It goes over 8,000

keep talkin

If I bought Centrica stock and gold before Bush got elected...would that make me a conspiracy theorist... or a smart investor?

People have been planning on making pornographically obscene wads of cash off this orchestrated mess for a few years now, Texan.

Perhaps "conspiracy" is a word best used by the ill-informed.

A hundred bucks says the following won't happen:

1) A depression
2) A socialist revolution in the U.S.
3) You will convince anyone of anything, ever.

Repeating yourself won't make it true.... Here, I'll even quote you so it will be repeated again... That still doesn't make it true.

You call me and others "ill-informed," as though you know something the rest of us don't. That's why you're so full of shit. Otherwise, you'd just be another dumbass, but your arrogance makes you a joke.

My point is that most of the world outside the USA better understands your government's transparent motivations better than Americans do, if this Board is in any way indicative of the Average American.

And I don't need to call you names to say it.

Raw

You want a birthday present? Well then, in the words of that old rhyme:

"Open your mouth and close your eyes
And you will get a big surprise!"

Obviously, youse Canadians are so much more enlightened than your southern redneck neighbors..... eh? what a joke...

Trade deficit

Once the effect of the enormous U.S. trade deficit finally kicks in and foreign capital flees the U.S. in droves, the stock market will come to resemble very much a garveyard, littered with the bones of those who weren't smart enough to get out early . . .

Oh, I don't know . . . from the other side of the world, the Canadians seem to have a better, more balanced view of the world, either as it is, or as Dubyah Shrub would like to de-construct it to . . .

the problem since 1963 has been Texans . . . shooting Presidents for mucking up their nice ilttle double payment earner from empty oilwells . . . now it's stealing undeveloped oil reserves from other nations . . . why do I sense some similarity?? . . .

maybe it's because the Texan fields are no longer economically viable at present prices and it is more profitable to take over undeveloped Middle Eastern oil reserves which are about 20% of the known reserves with another 16% next door in the Central Asian fileds to be de-stabilised by the CIA before takeover in the 20-teens . . . gotta supply that wasteful U$ market . . . :)
