So let me set the scene and players first.
Location: Work, motor pool
Players: LPO, ALPO, 3 pregnant women

A little background...the LPO came in and took over a couple of months ago. Decent guy, works hard, means well when he does things. One of the first things he does is he digs up an old rule in regards to how many hours a week a pregnant girl can work, and uses it so that the girls only work a max of 5hrs a day. He also sets it so that two weeks prior to their delivery date they are on call-in muster only.

Wednesday morning I'm standing around as the ALPO and the three girls are having a typical shoot the shit session. For a few minutes they discuss some of the mildly inappropriate stuff the LPO may say. Nothing unusual, they always find something to bitch about one of the supervisors or me. Their attention turns briefly to the tv, they find a murder trial going on, which somehow leads to them in depth discussing necrophilia and bestiality. Sadly, I've gotten used to them discussing topics similiar to this...they seem to revel in discussing disturbing things. As a side note, have also been known to pull up shirts and what not to show each other their stretch marks, size of tummy as they got bigger, etc. So...I do my usual and leave.

Thursday I wasn't there all day due to paperwork for my checking out of the Navy.

Friday morning, the civilian supervisor pulls me aside to let me know what happened. Apparently Thursday, the LPO went to do the Navy physical fitness test. He had his pt gear [t-shirt and shorts] on underneath his uniform, so he took off the uniform, was fully dressed in the PT gear, and went to do the test. Apparently the three girls decided that this was highly innappropriate and went to complain to the chief with full expectations of him being removed from the trailer.

The good note on this, was the chief, before making any decision, pulled aside the ALPO, civilian supervisor, and LPO. ALPO stated blatantly there was nothing wrong with him basically taking off the uniform like it was a jacket and over layer of pants. Then, there was a long discussion in regards to the inappropriateness of the girls, the discussions they would have simply to gross out the people around them, insults they'd make and what not. They don't know it yet, but the decision was made to remove them from the trailer and make a note in their records that they enjoyed trying to find ways to get supervisors removed.

Still, miffed the hell out of me. Just found it sad that all he really wanted was things to run smoothly and to ensure that they weren't overworked so that their kids would be fine, and thats how he was repaid.

I don't understand all the terms or the situation, but I get the basic gist. Sounds like a couple of dumb women with bad attitudes. Either that or sixth grade syndrome.

Yeah keeping it a touch vague for other reasons. Basically I agree...mostly its bad attitudes. But basically you have their supervisor having done everything in his power to make life easier for them...and they reward him by being hypocritical and making false claims.

Guessing, here: are the women in their late teens or early 20's? Strong sense of entitlement? Attitudes and behaviors gotten worse since they were provided "special treatment" by the LPO?

It's a damned shame; the LPO sounds like a genuinely nice guy. I'm glad the chief saw through the bullshit.

When I got out women were only allowed on non-combat vessels
Never on submarines except the repair crews from the tender.
The women in the hydraulic shop on the LY Spear AS36 did much better work than the men

I don't know what the terms are either, so don't get most of it. I figure they were bored and immature. They'll either learn from it, or not. Either way, they are no doubt branded trouble makers. I find that co-workers are less forgiving and trusting in these situations than the bosses.

Well, old Cloudy accused me of making a racial comment and quoted me by saying I believed in one race. She wanted to frame this little old Christian black girl as a racist. See how unfair people can be?

Which they don't get away with. I hope the LPO conveyed that concept to them.

During the 80's I did construction on film sets. There weren't many women in the biz, but there was usually one or two other women on jobs I worked. One day the foreman called me and the other woman into the office, and told us that the men had complained that we were distracting them when we wore shorts, so could we please wear jeans on the job. This on a set that was averaging 90 degrees or more-- and we were wearing the same baggy cut-off painters pants with hammer loops that the guys were wearing. We told him that the men had to keep their shirts on at all times, then, so we wouldn't be distracted by their manly chests, and the subject was dropped.

On another job that same summer, pretty much everyone stripped down as far as the law would let us, men and women alike. Some of the same men were on that job with me, too-- just a different day...

This surprises me. Back in 1982 I worked at the local nuclear power plant doing some modifications inside the reactor building.

The rule was: when you left the reactor building all clothes but underpants came off your body so the girls could wand you for contamination. And if your BVDs were contaminated, they came off too. Occasionally a guy had a nukie in his briefs and had to remove them so the girls could decontaminate him. But it also happened to the female workers. The underwear came off in front of God and everyone. In fact the women used the same showers and dress-out room as the men.
