Still a mystery of the universe: men report more sex partners than women.

Why is it that men report far more partners than do women? (check as many as you like

There are probably far more men than there ever used to be. There being fewer major wars and all. War tends to be another of Nature's ways of reducing our numbers and keeping a disparity between the sexes.
Well, but remember that the number of women used to be far smaller than it is now because they'd die in childbirth--and also die in childhood becuase they weren't valued like the boys (more likely to be exposed or underfed).

So, I'm not sure, between the wars and the childbirth, if the female population USED to exceed that of the men. With the rates of death from childbirth significantly down, and women living longer then men, the female population now tops male even if there are more men than before.

That, alone, by the way, sifts the statistics of this poll--the older the age, the more valuable men become and the more likely they are to get as many women as they like--while the women have an ever shrinking pool. This is made worse by the fact that older men can snag younger women who are more often interested in money than in toned muscles.

And with the little blue pill, those older men wouldn't even have to lie about being able to have satisfy all those women

If men need a little blue pill to satisfy a woman, they're doing something wrong.

I suspect it depends partly on how violent the era. After the Thirty Years' War, for instance, or WW1, there was a greater shortage of men than in the periods right before or afterward (because of a new generation of men). The Black Death, on the other hand, didn't discriminate.

I often wondered if the reason we in the modern parts of the world haven't fought an all out war in sixty years is because for the first time in history, it doesn't matter where you are on the social scale.

For a long time, as I read history, it was mostly young men who died in war. Who are, in my opinion, the most expendable part of a society.

Now, in a real war, the President or whoever is almost as likely to buy it as the grunt in a foxhole.

So, no wars amongst modern nations. No one wants to start a war he's, and it's usually a he, is going to die in. ;)

There are some women you need the blue pill and a shot of whiskey in you before you tackle. Cock-eyed cousin Harriet isn't pretty just because mamma told her that when she was a kid.

*shudder*

LOLOLOL

I always answer these polls the same way. I either tell them it's none of their damned bussiness, or I tell them I have had enough sexual partners to know roughly what I like and dislike.

They can take that any way they want.

Cat

Polls like this usually rank right up there with those that ask "Do you believe in God? If so, why?"

OK, one last question,

for the straight people of AH:
------

Men, those in a serious relationship or married:

Are there any of us who've had fewer sexual (intercourse) couplings (over the lifetime) than our partners have?
------

Women, those is a serious relationship or married:

Are they any of you who have had *more* sexual couplings (over your lifetime) than your partner has.

Tiny supplementary question: Are you lying?
---

Is that the sound of deafening silence I hear? :p

I was my husband's first female lover. He was my 14th or so. No, not lying, never really have lied about it. I enjoyed my slutty period up until I didn't anymore.

I picked both lie for different reasons. It's no secret guys round up about their number and women round down. The only subjective thing I'll add is that men's sexual habits tend to be roundly similar while women's fluctuate.

This doesn't include married couples, but most of the guys I know will put the pipe to any chick that's decently hot and doesn't have anything. It doesn't take a whole lot for them. Women are different. Some women will sleep with you on the first night, after the third date, or after four months of dating. Just depends on what her morals are looking like. So if you look at it this way, it might be true that guys have more partners than women because the male population doesn't fluctuate a whole lot when it comes to sex with a new partner like the woman population does.

Your average sixteen year old has more experience than me.

This seems kind of counter-intuitive at first, but builds off Pure's observation about the sexually active component of the sample definition.

If Males were divided by women, roughly, into "desirable" and "non-desirable" categories, that would produce a male population with a relatively large number of partners (the desirables) and a relatively low number of partners (the undesirables). The Undesirables would probably contain a number of Zero partners. Given that the decision to have sex or not is primarily the female's, it may well be that the male population is actually more of a bipolar distribution - one that looks like a dog biscuit, with Desirables having many partners and Undesirables having few or none.

Despite Malachitechik's laudable crusade to deflower many men before 'settling down', and a big BRAVO! :nana: for that, the truth may be that there are more male virgins than female. And that would lead to the disparity seen among 'sexually active' humans.

yes, adding up my male and female lovers... I still fall short of my wife's prior list. I am glad to have a more experienced woman... she was able to handle my issues better than a newbie would have.

Absolutely! If there were more like you, the world would be a better place. Or, if those like you didn't retire early... ;)

As it is, though, I think that it's far easier for a female to lose her virginity than it is for a male, and females are more likely to lose their virginity to males with experience.

[edit to add] oops! I got your name wrong in my previous post.

No fear, darlin'.

I got a late start -- I was 20, almost 21 before my then long time boyfriend and I did the deed. I was his second, and he had only slightly more experience than I did. Then I went off the market at 28. But I stayed busy during that time!

Men lie.

Men lie all the time. Lying to a pollster is an easy way of improving your performance. Lying is the quickest way to become something you are not, but want to be.

If I say it is true, and you have no way of verifying, then it must be true. Men lie to change history.

Men lie to the person they lie next to, so why shouldn't men lie to pollsters.

Why tell the truth when a lie will do?

College football coaches, heads of major corporations, politicians are just some of the recent liars in the news. If men are willig to lie ona resume to get a job where one would think there will be some inquiry, why not lie on the phone to some shmuck doing a poll.

I have had 27 sexual partners...over the last ten years...in each year...Yeah, that's the ticket. Two and three ata time most times. Yeah. I just had sex with my wife...ah...Morgan Fairchild, yeah that's it. That's the ticket.

I think me'n'her are about evens (I can remember every one of mine, but might have forgotten the odd oneof hers: what mattered was that she told me and I have a veto) - but probably both below average.

That's true.
