I was looking at my yahoo homepage and noticed that the word of the day is...
Stigma
DEFINITION: a mark of shame or discredit
EXAMPLE: In "The Scarlet Letter" Hester Prynne was required to wear the letter 'A' on her clothes as a public stigma for her adultery.
My daughter mentioned to me the other day that I am now a 'single parent' which I thought was fairly astute coming from an 8-year-old. Mind you...if she has stigmatized me...who else has...and what with? <insert paranoid emoticon>
Do you ever feel as tho you have a stigma attached to you? That you wear a scarlet letter proclaiming you to be anything from a single parent to a newbie?
