In 2001?

Winning over Radiohead, Paul Simon, Beck, and Eminem?

*cringes*

The real sad thing was that practically no one applauded. I mean so they were not the crowd favorite, at least show respect.

YES! THANK YOU! I wondered if I imagined that or not... that chick was on "something"... oh yea. (Her name was Shelby something.)

Steely Dan? For the love of Celine Dieon staying retired and not singing that damn Titanic song, who the hell are they?

As a certified SD FANatic (probably the only one on the BB) I deeply resemble all of the above remarks.

First off, I don't watch the Grammy's. The Grammy's rank right up there with the People's Choice Awards when it comes to "Who Gives A Fuck" time. That said, the headlines this morning took me by as much surprise as I'm sure it did everyone else. I mean, I knew they were nominated and that was a pretty big compliment in and of itself.

But win? 3 times?

When Royal Scam, Aja, and Gaucho couldn't even win once? In any category?

Without question, this is the equivalent of a "sympathy fuck" from the voters. IMHO, 2 Against Nature is an excellent CD. While Fagen's voice may be going, everything else that made the group fun to listen to in the 70's is still there and that's an impressive accomplishment. But 2 Against Nature is a sermon to the choir. Judging from the last sales totals I read, if you weren't already a Danhead, this CD wasn't going to convert you.

So, call it one for longevity. Or posterity. Whatever. Like Paul Simon, Messrs Becker and Fagen have been around, and they're still around. Thank God for that. Years from now, people will still be listening to them.

And the only thing Eminem will be remembered for is being dead.

Actually, her name is Shelby Lynne and she received a Grammy for the Best New Artist. Despite the fact that she may or may not have been under the influence of something, her voice is incredible! I was very impressed with her.

Shelby had a wee bit of trouble trying to keep her hip huggers from falling below her crotch ... i thought she looked kinda like white trash ... lol ...

next to her Sheryl Crow <wow> ... now there is a lady with class ... Shelby could learn from her ...

and ummm Steely Dan??? ... oh man i cringed ... the grammys are all about politics ... i mean i didn't even know they had released an album last year ... never mind an "album of the year" .... yikes ... i was sooooo hoping for Radiohead ...
