So I did serve in the Navy, and it’s always been a tradition when a ship is deployed for a long time to serve that for dinner first day out. It was already established in the 1980s.
Cheap steak and lobster (both probably frozen), but still better than average. I don’t know why someone would get uptight about it.

I expect seafood to be common on navy ships. When the whole military is struggling to recruit, joining the navy to eat dollar store pork and beans would be a tough sell.

Well, to the transgenders that those on the Left have pushed everyone out to make room for, merely suffering deployment is the cultural equivalent to war. Hell on earth. They should at least be wined and dined to alleviate their extreme sacrifice to the nation's abnormal and unnatural security fetish.

I have noticed that people who get the most uptight about changes in the military or how veterans are not respected enough are ones who have never served, and if an actual veteran disagrees with them they get real disrespectful. As I noted earlier steak and lobster are traditionally served first night at sea for long deployments.
