Stats on stories

yea It has help tremendously. I use the stats now mostly to gauge the reactions of a story, if it doesnt do well. I'll go back and re-read it myself and see where it could use some work done. maybe a bit of fine tuning.

stats, in combination with comments can be a great help for a serial story. at least as far as I have found. I've taken Emily's advice about the stats and gauge them about twice a week. to see how they are standing and if I need to improve my stories in the next episode.

take em with a grain of salt and use them only as a loose guideline to improve further stories.
My suggestion is to ignore the stats for thirty days (of course, none of us do that), because it takes a while for the score to settle down.

Also, don't panic if you see your vote counts drop from time to time. The site runs regular "sweeps" to remove dodgy votes. Don't ask or speculate how the sweeps work, but suffice to know, they do.

yea. i've noticed my part 1 usually stays around 4.44 and has dropped in the last 2 days to 4.38 now. I think its starting to settle into its comfy couch potato stage lol.

I did notice a sharp uptake in part 1 about 2 to 3 days after part 2 dropped. as people reading part 2 went back to read part 1.

Normally i wait about 1-2 weeks before writing my next episode to gauge how well the story is doing. mostly with comments. oddly enough, comments on part 2 has been very minimal. only 3. so not much help there for now.

Don't expect vast numbers of comments. My rule of thumb is one Vote per hundred Views, one Comment per thousand - but I don't write in Loving Wives, where completely different metrics apply.

My experience is, if you write really well or really badly, readers will let you know. If your writing is in the middle of the bell curve, the silence can be spooky. You'll also find over time that some categories are more responsive than others.

I'm writing more for romance category. but I have one I'm currently writing that's becoming a harem story with cheating mixed in. so I'm not sure if it goes into LW or Romance. I'll figure that when i get ready to publish lol. I'm kinda scared of LW. I've read some of the comments and HOLY SHIT!! they are brutal!
