Start of A Partnership (Closed for lmcms)

Sigurd Lundgren sat in the back of the class. He easily had three seats around him that were empty. In every direction. He was used to it. It had been happening for the past 1100 years of his life. He had been turned when he was 20 summers old. He hadn't aged any after that. As his people died around him, and he remained unchanged, he slowly realized what he was.

He was a vampire. He had come to embrace that fact. As the world changed, life actually became easier. He could blend with any culture, and now possessed the knowledge of thousands of lives. He had grown tired of some parts of his life, so came to America when it was still in its infancy. He had stayed in the shadows, always drawing fear wherever he went.

It was evident he was different. It was why the people in this college class were leaving him alone. He was just worried that the professor had announced there would be a permanent partnership through the semester. He slowly waited for his name to be called.

"Sigurd Lundgren!" the teacher called out.

"I'm here," he said, drawing the stares of those closest to him. He waited, dreading being paired with someone who would be scared of him for what he was; the ultimate predator of humans. A vampire.

Lillian Davenport sat in about the middle of the class she figured that was about the best way to be ignored. You weren't on the edge, in the back, or in the front, you were just part of the filling and that worked for her. At 19 almost 20 Lil figured it was best to just blend in and not stand out, she stayed out of trouble that way. When the professor of this class had announced that they would be doing a permenant partnership for the semester she wanted to groan knowing her luck she would get paired with some bubbly bitch she couldn't stand. When the professor called Sigurd's name she sniffed as everyone looked back at him. She never understood what everyone's fasination with him was. Granted she thought he was sexy as hell and would sell her soul to sleep with him she knew he didn't even know her name.

"Lillian Davenport." The professor called and Lil jerked her head up wandering what the hell was going on.

"Yeah?" She said simply showing she wasn't paying attention.

The professor sighed and eyed her a moment. "You are going to be partners with Sigurd for the semester. Please try to pay better attention Ms. Davenport."

Lil didn't answer him as she slowly turned her head to look back and Sigurd her eyes meeting his and staying there as she messured him up wandering how the partnership would work.

Sigurd made sure to keep eye contact with his new partner as she sized him up. He was at least glad he hadn't gotten one of those idiots in the back who were holding hands, or asleep. She seemed smart enough by sitting in the middle, so he shrugged. He listened as the rest of the class was paired off. He looked back at his partner, Lillian.

He raised two fingers and motioned for her to come sit by him, since the rest of the class was breaking up and sitting next to their partner. He just wasn't sure how she would handle being partners with him. He wasn't sure whether or not she would be intimidated, but hoped they could at least get through the semester successfully.

Lil gave a sniff as he beconed her to him. "As if" she thought to herself "hot or not I will be his lap dog." She looked him up and down as they sat there and decided to hold her ground she liked sitting in the middle and he could just come to her. She would have been willing to go to him, that is until he beconed her like some minion. She shook her head and pointed to the empty seats on either side of her letting him know he could just as easily come to her as she could to him.

She didn't look to see if he was moving or not but instead pulled out her book and note book making notes of the assignments that would need to be done over the next few weeks.

Sig just shrugged and then gathered his things. He noticed that everyone seemed to shy away from him as he moved effortlessly, gracefully, through the seats. He never lost his balance, and always seemed to flow from step to step. He'd been told that he could have been a model, the way he looked and walked, but just wanted a simple life. Hell, he had wanted that before he was turned.

He sat down next to his new partner and pulled out his notebook, absently taking notes as he looked around. His handwriting was need and tidy, but small. It also never wavered from the lines of the page as he copied the assignments down rapidly. His gaze stopped on Lillian, and he quickly sized her up, before going back to his notes.

Lil continued taking notes never pausing even briefly as Sigurd came and sat beside her and began taking notes as well. When she finished with her notes she finally looked up at him and smiled at him a bit of mischief sparkling in her dark blue eyes.

"Okay everyone after you take notes I want you to get to know your new partner for the rest of the class I'll have your first assignment for you tomorrow." The professor spoke.

Lil smile spread a bit more and she leaned back in her chair and propped her legs covered in baggy jeans up on her desk. "So Sig I can call you Sig right?" She nodded without waiting for an answer and continued on. "Tell me when you are avalible for study sessions. We can compare schedules so that we can set a regular study date." She finished pulling out her day planner.

She looked up at him as she puffed out a breath pulling her messy dark red bangs out of her eyes and waited for him to answer her.

Sig smiled at Lillian. She was so full of energy. If only she knew how vulnerable she was. But at the same time, she wasn't afraid of him. He looked around at the rest of their classmates, and they all looked away, or slid back in their seats. Yet her this wisp of a girl was boldly talking to him, and on top of that, calling him Sig! No one had done that in a few centuries, and the last one could have been Lillian's great-great-great-great grandfather.

He shook his head and smiled at her. "You may indeed call me Sig. As for schedules, we can really work whenever you are able. I have a fairly light course load this semester. As such, I have plenty of time free that we can fill with studying," he said.

He quickly sized Lillian up again, her stock steadily rising, as he watched her seemingly relaxed appearance in his presence. He shrugged and then exhaled. He knew that humans liked for things to breathe, so relaxed and sighed.

"Is it okay if I call you Lil?" he asked, tasting the air, sensing the fear around him. He was used to that, but there was something else in the air. He wasn't sure of what it was, but it was coming from his partner.
