Is anybody anticipating Chapter two of the "Star Wars" series?

I'm not so sure anymore. The first three, chapters four through six, were incredible, unlike anything seen before. George Lucas was in his prime and creating special effects that simply blew you away. Unfortunately, he lost interest and went on doing other things, leaving his legion of fans salivating for more.

Finally he returned to his orphaned child and made chapter one. What a major disappointment! There was nothing there that was out of the ordinary, we'd pretty much seen it all before. In the first three, you could always be sure of something that would be new and novel, something that would set a new standard and be copied by others. Not this time! Even the storyline was unoriginal, borrowing from Rome, Greece, and the Bible. Plus Ja-Ja Binks was a huge and annoying mistake!

I found it so disappointing that I began to wonder whether or not George Lucas had waited too long, whether he's past it and his best days are now behind him. I hope I'm wrong. Chapter two should tell the tale. I will go with my fingers crossed, hoping for the best, but fearing the worst. The tale is only half told and there is so much more to come. To have it all turn into something lame and boring would be tragic!

I'll see Chapter 2, even though I'm not expecting much. Maybe it'll be better that way.

I think the most interesting aspect of this trilogy is the transformation of Annaken to Darth Vader. All these little tykes adore Anneken, and I'm waiting for the effect on their pysche to see their pint-sized hero become the ultimate bad guy.

I'm looking at it this way

I REALLY enjoyed the firts trilogy, so no matter how bad the prequel may be, I don't care. As was said, the biggest thing about this trilogy is just to see the transformation. I heard that this next film is gonna be like "The Empire Strikes Back," and I REALLY LIKED THAT MPOVIE, so it might be good. Just as long as Jar Jar Binks dies off quickly.

I hope . . .

Lucus doesn't direct the next ones, but it wont happen.

He directed 'A New Hope', which was far and away the best, but I loathed what he did to 'Phantom Menace.'

Characters created for comercialism, Actors working against blue screens who lost the 'human' feel, too much ILM not enough fairy tale.

But I will be looking forward to it, for the story. Because expectations are so much lower, hopefully this one will surprise.

part of the problem is that when George Lucas made the first three movies he was at the cutting edge of special effects as well as telling a damn good story, but in the mean time the rest of the world has caught up and by the time he made the phantom menace his special effects weren't so special anymore.

Ja Ja Binks must die in the opening titles of the next film or I'm fucking walking.

I have enjoyed all the Star Wars movies and will see them all. I am with y'all on the Ja Ja Binks saying adios.

It is being the long time ago that is in a galaxy the so very far, far away....

I am the saying that it is being turmoil that is having the engulfing of the Galactic Republic that was the being for the people. The taxation for the trade routes of the outlying states that there is the disputing of the all in the systems that there are the being.

Hoping it is to be the resolving of the matter that it is by the using of the blockade they are the having of the deadly battleships, so it is that the greedy of the Trade Federation types for the stopping of all the shipping that there is the being to the Naboo small planet that it is.

I am saying that the Congress of the Republic is the debating and the debating the over and the over forever on the endlessly about the all the this and so it is being that the Supreme Chancellor is the secretly dispatching of the two Jedi Knights with the big light sabers that they are having to take care of all of the this.

I agree with the first statement

EVERYBODY was SO ECSTATIC about this movie, that it couldn't live up to even the slightest expectation. I don't quite agree with the second part. Sure, it will be fun to see how the transformation occurs. HOWEVER, everyone knows Anakin becomes Darth, so the "little tykes" shouldn't really be amazed at all. That is, unless they havn't already seen "The Empire Strikes Back," or are to young to remember it.

They arent going to axe JarJar, hes just supposed to have a lesser part. The next one though, is supposed to be much darker then Phantom. Just like the first Triology, the movies are going to take on the same format. Good Wins, Evil Wins, Good Wins ... That kind of thing. We get to see Mace and all the Good Jedis get whacked, I cant wait.

Yes, it could have lived up to expectations, it would have to be a wonderful story, with exciting characters and a sense of foreboding. Instead we got a pre-fab special effects milieu and some ho-hum 'Darth Maul' fighting action.

Moody Star Gretchie's take on this matter:

Yes Gnufi, You are helping to examplify my point of view.

Spoiled? Are you all brats?

This is his story. Lucas'. His Artwork. Not to be looked at with expectation until you can know the work as complete. If you choose to do so, then you are jipping yourself, and Lucas of his well deserved respect.

He fullfilled what needed to be covered in Episode 1, though there were cuts made that probably shouldn't have been. They'll be in the DVD release this October, and maybe some of you will stop being so 'disappointed' then. Over 6 hours of crap on this DVD, so get over it people.

So many act as if he 'owes' it to them to do right. What is right, exactly? This is his vision, afterall, isn't it? I had seen things that would have been better IMO, but I am not the artist of this work. Could you really do better yourself?

If you don't realize that these Epics are more complex than your one time flick, then your not paying any attention to the difference between Hollywood blow up/paranoia inspiring crap like The Matrix and film art.

Why a movie maker does what they decide to do isn't always so apparent unless you get a preview of it, like as will be with The Lord of the Rings trilogy. None of you have a clue what is to really come with the next two Episodes. He does, and has for 26 years, with minor exceptions and changes here and there.

I have said this all before. I would be so annoyed as an artist if you told me "I was dissapointed with your last painting" when you haven't seen it with the entire collection of paintings it goes with.

How narrow can we be here?

Smiles and hugs you all, and says....

let's get a pizza and watch episode 4

I CAN'T WAIT

If the next film is anything like "Empire" I'LL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure.

I enjoyed some things about Episode 1, but the ending sucked real bad. And there were just too many cute characters doing fluffy, sappy things. I wish Lucas would take the same approach to the next one that he took with SW and Empire.

And of course there's Jar jar. I don't even need to say anything about that.

And Lucas has to come up with a new way to end his movies other than someone blowing up the "main generator". Three out of four of the SW movies have ended that way so far.

the first three will be: good wins, draw (good wins the Clone Wars, but Palpatine either becomes the Emperor durring the chaos or starts grabbing too much power), evil wins (the Emperor kills off the Jedi, Obi-Wan pushes Anakin/Vader into the lava pit, Luke & Leia born and hidden).

good can't win in the third one b/c A New Hope would not fit. Lucas HAS to show the Jedi being wipped out, and that CAN'T be a victory for the Good.

and as for Ep I, i look at it as a beginning, not a story in and of itself. A New Hope was made to be a story in and of itself (a chapter-long story) b/c he didn't expect to make the rest of them. he didn't have to bother with that in ESB b/c ANH was so successful, and the same goes for EpI. and of COURSE it's not a dark movie b/c there's ABSOLUTLY NO REASON for it to be one! the Republic is intact, the Jedi are doing their thing, and so on. sure, WE know it's all starting to crumble, but we've seen future episodes! THEY don't know it's about to end, so why should they be all dreary and dark? nearly everybody looks at Episode one the wrong way, i say. it's a great movie when you take it for what it is and what does: it sets up the story for II and III.

and as for it being too "commercial" and too "kiddie", Lucas' single intent for Star Wars, the whole of it, is a grand adventure for EVERYBODY, from little kids to adults. he's just doing what he's always done with SW, it's just that the kids nowadays are just to sappy and commercial themselves, on the whole. i mean, take a good long look at what interests kids these days (on the whole, NOT specific individuals) and tell me if the other stuff they're fed every damn day ain't worse? (does the name "Pokemon" ring a bell?)

Jar Jar was a mistake, though. i'm with y'all on that one, big time. a funny talking klutz wouldn't have been bad, but he was TOO klutzy, and too much a stereotype in the finished version. the way they made him talk was a bad move, too. there were PLENTY of ways to make him talk funny that would have been better..

I really didn't mind it either

If they took out Jar Jar and his childish blunders and focuses more on the story then it would have been ALOT better. I'm with ypou, the movie may not have been what people expected, but it was good place to start. I JUST CAN'T WAIT for the next one. I LOVE evil type movies. I hope they have more Yoda in this one, he's THE MAN, er, Jedi. I also heard rumors that the story of how Han acquired the Falcon from Lando. I also heard Chewy may make a cameo in the movie. I hope that isn't just a nasty rumor. CHEWY RULES!!!!!!!!!

i seriously doubt Han will be in any of the movies, unless he's a wee lad or a baby. he won the Falcon from Lando a few years before A New Hope..

Ok whats all this, A New Hope, stuff? Is that another name for the 4th installment? I.E. the first Star Wars movie released?

Mr. Star Tired Fighting Dude....

Don't fret, Star Gretchie is here to explain

Episode 3

Episode 4 A New Hope (1977?? 78?? don't remember)

Don't give the Empire any ideas or before you know it, they'll install back-up generators.:p

SW2

There is one thing I will be looking forward to in SW2, and that's the look of the picture, because Lucas isn't filming it. He's using the newest digital technology. It'll be interesting to see what effect it will have.

There is a strong rumour going round that George Lucas will only finish the first three chapters and won't be doing Chapters 7,8, or 9. He will let others direct them. The rumour I heard, but can't confirm, so don't hold me to it, is that Burton is being approached.

At first I thought "James and the Giant Peach" ?!?! Are they serious! But he also did "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and his latest is a re-make of "Planet of the Apes" and it looks very promising. So It may be a wise choice if it happens.
