Is anybody anticipating Chapter two of the "Star Wars" series?
I'm not so sure anymore. The first three, chapters four through six, were incredible, unlike anything seen before. George Lucas was in his prime and creating special effects that simply blew you away. Unfortunately, he lost interest and went on doing other things, leaving his legion of fans salivating for more.
Finally he returned to his orphaned child and made chapter one. What a major disappointment! There was nothing there that was out of the ordinary, we'd pretty much seen it all before. In the first three, you could always be sure of something that would be new and novel, something that would set a new standard and be copied by others. Not this time! Even the storyline was unoriginal, borrowing from Rome, Greece, and the Bible. Plus Ja-Ja Binks was a huge and annoying mistake!
I found it so disappointing that I began to wonder whether or not George Lucas had waited too long, whether he's past it and his best days are now behind him. I hope I'm wrong. Chapter two should tell the tale. I will go with my fingers crossed, hoping for the best, but fearing the worst. The tale is only half told and there is so much more to come. To have it all turn into something lame and boring would be tragic!
