The days of the Old Republic are gone. The Empire now rules the galaxy. In Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina in the city of Mos Eisley on Tatooine, former Jedi Knight Azoth Voru masquerades as a common smuggler and bounty hunter under the new name Kylar Stern. Now in the employ of Jabba the Hutt, Kylar sits in the shady cantina awaiting a rendezvous with the rest of his new team.
This takes place twelve years before the Battle of Yavin, and seven years after the end of the Clone Wars. Your characters are the people who make up Kylar's new team. Whether they are also Jedi in hiding, Dark Jedi, Sith that operate separate from Vader and Sidious or are undercover to find hidden Jedi, smugglers, bounty hunters, mercenaries, or whatever – they are somehow connected to Jabba's crime syndicate and have been hired for this mission.
I am looking for anywhere from three to seven people, with at least one of them being someone Kylar has previously worked with on spice runs. A Chewbacca to my Han Solo, of sorts.
The mission is to travel to the jungle planet Muatoya on the fringes of Wild Space and provide extra muscle and support for a mining colony that Jabba has invested in. The colony, which mines rare and valuable Kolaricite crystals from underground tunnels, has captured many of the native Urskibors (looks like a mix between a bugbear and a troll) and forced them into slave labor under orders from Jabba and other investors, including other Hutts.
Recently, there have been reports of Urskibors striking back against their captors, with rumors of a Jedi presence behind the revolt.
Perhaps any of you who want to play Sith-affiliated characters could be on the team to kill the rumored Jedi if one is found. As for Kylar, while he is not Sith and has not fallen to the Dark Side, he is no longer an agent of the light. He fights only for himself now, and while someone on the Jedi Council would consider him fallen, he identifies as neutral, although he does and has killed in cold blood, both during the Clone Wars and in the seven years since. He is not far from the Dark Side, but does have a sense of honor and morality.
So, make your characters, whomever they are, and have them meet Kylar in the cantina.
Kylar Stern
Born: 41 BBY in a small mountain village on Corellia.
Age: 29

Born as Azoth Voru, the boy was discovered to be very Force-sensitive, and only has very early memories of his home and family before he was sent to become a Jedi. During his years as a youngling, he progressed at a rapid rate, and at age eleven, was taken as Jedi Master Durzo Blint's chosen apprentice.
Under the guidance of Master Blint, Azoth mastered several forms of lightsaber combat, and was allowed to study Juyo as well. The young Padawan excelled at physical combat, and soon became accustomed to wielding dual lightsabers.
A year into the Clone Wars, at age twenty, Durzo told the Council Azoth was ready to take the Trials, and he passed, becoming a Jedi Knight. Over the next two years, both Azoth and Durzo participated in many battles against the Droid Army of the Separatists, but on one fateful mission to the Outer Rim world Tudassa, their clone troopers turned on them. Both Jedi managed to escape, resulting in a three day chase through a thick forest.
In the end, Azoth and his master found themselves surrounded by troopers in a forest clearing, and in the fight that followed, Durzo was dealt a fatal wound. The pain of losing his beloved master was so great that Azoth lashed out with the Force in anger, releasing a blast in all directions that knocked back the troopers. This was followed by a series of hatred-fed lighsaber slashes, and within moments the young Jedi stood alone among dozens of corpses.
Looking around at the atrocity he had just committed, Azoth dropped his lightsaber and said, “I am no longer a Jedi... I'm sorry, Master...” as tears streamed down his cheeks. He almost left his lightsaber there, but decided to keep it, just in case. He then left the planet with the intention of going into exile, but when he discovered the magnitude of what had happened with Palpatine and Order 66, his anger pushed him into action. For the next year, he viciously fought the Empire, until one day he found himself in a dual with Darth Vader.
In the battle that followed, Vader could sense the hate and anger in Azoth, and ultimately he became so enraged that he actually lashed out with a small blast of Force-lightning. This horrified Azoth to the point that he fled. He was disgusted with himself that he was capable of using the Dark Side to that degree, and left the fight behind for good.
Azoth took a new name, Kylar Stern, and began his life as a smuggler, and eventually a bounty hunter. While he still maintained a sense of honor and morality, he did not hold himself to the old Jedi Code, feeling that he was no longer worthy of being a Jedi. He slept with women, drank, gambled, smuggled, committed thefts, and even killed if the job called for it. Over the six years that he had been a criminal, he developed a wider view of morality, and the things he did in the past haunted him less and less, making him an overall happy person who just wanted to make money and have fun.
