Question for authors - I'm writing a story about a female jedi - all characters are made up, but since it's Star wars themed, do I have to put it in Celebrities?

It's actually a serious story, not humorous (no Jar Jar goes down on C3PO kind of stuff!). I'd prefer to put it in Sci Fi or Non-consensual. Thanks!

Sounds like Sci-Fi to me. Most stories could fit in more than just one category, but I think Sci-Fi is the right one for your story. ;)

I would say that if you're just using the setting or premise of Star Wars and not the characters, put it in Sci Fi. If you were using any of the characters, then it should go in Celebrity.

Using someone else's world to set your story is kinda on the edge of being a fan fic, reguardless of the characters. Submit it to whatever cat you feel is best, but don't be too surprised if it ends up in Celebs, simply beacuse you are using G.L.'s world for a setting.

I'd think Celebrities, since if it even uses terms like Jedi, that would pretty much make it fanfic whether it involves characters from the movies or not.

Try posting it in fan fic with an authors note explaining your position (briefly) to the readers (as well as the editors) so they know what they are getting into and what they can expect from your story.

That's my advice.

Ok, thanks all. I guess I will try posting it to SciFi, and if it gets switched, that's life. I don't like writing fanfics, because I like to do my own character development, but I got the itch to do a story with a Jedi theme. ;)

Who says fanfic doesn't involve character development? ;)

A story doesn't have to be about the characters from the movie to still be fanfic. If it's still set within someone else's created universe, the characters and worlds could be entirely out of your own imagination but it's still fanfic, if it's Star Wars.

If you're against fanfic, and want to do a sci-fi story, it's probably easy enough to do a Star Wars knockoff with all the key words like Jedi changed to protect the not-so-innocent.

Ok, I guess what I meant was I don't like to use pre-drawn characters. I definitely want it to be a Star Wars fanfic, just with original characters.
