All the hype is beginning in the lead up to the new episode due to hit our screens mid-year. Not in the least are the re-runs on tv of the original 3 movies. I;m watching the last one where Luke tells Leah that he is her sister, and I can't remember what happens [but luckily for me I am about to find out :D]

But does anyone have any theories about the new episode? In this one he has got to turn, but how and why?

I thought maybe because the queen is killed by the goodies, or that the goodies failed to help her in sort of a 'it is her destiny' kind of cop out. But having been refreshed a little, particularly where Leah says she remembers her mother as sad, maybe not.

Any ideas?

They CAN'T kill Nathale Portman! :(

From what I recall, he turns not because she gets killed, but rather, she had to hide Luke and Leah from him. (In original Star Wars, which I'm certain to have seen no less than 6 times when a kid.)

Annakin falls because he forgets that the greatest battle is the one with yourself.

I remember thinking at the end of the last one that The Republic is doomed.

Why? Because no one on either side of the war is willing to do their own fighting, and dying. The Trade Federation uses droids and the Republic is using clones designed for fighting.

When the people inside a society are no longer willing to sacrifice for it, that society has relegated itself to the dust heap of history.

I fell asleep through the last two - LOL - my wish is that this one is better! I will pay my $12 + $12 for popcorn (grumble), simply because I am such a sucker for Sci-fi.

Ok, just reached the part where they it turns out they are twins, and Darth said that obionekanobi [excuse shit spelling] did well to hide Leah from him.

Sorry Charlie, but is seems Natalie does die when they are young. :(

There was no chance I could fall alseep - everyone was jumping around the cinema with light sabres [again, excuse technical spelling] and black capes and stuff and impersonating the hairy dude [wokee?]

Unfortunately, I am an insomniac, so I didn't have that option. Although I sincerely wish I had.

Me? Next up on my movie viewing list is Sin City directed by Robert Rodriguez :nana: and Frank Miller. :nana: :nana:

That is going to be too cool for words!

LOL - its getting as bad as Rocky Horror! I lie. I didn't fall asleep literally, but only because of Nathalie Portman and Kiera Knightly. :D

:(

There's no Ewoks in the new one, is there?

I forgot Kiera K was in it. They tricked me, I thought it was natalie playing both roles. D'oh.

Sin city - what is that about? That isn't the one about brazillian slums of something, or is that gold city?

Yes, I do hate the Ewoks.

An I especially disliked that Lucas ripped off H. Beam Piper and gave him no credit. Snarl.

(Sorry, long time SF geek. H. Beam Piper did an excellent book called Little Fuzzy. Like all good SF, the book reads well, but makes you think about a lot of things in the universe. Space Viking and Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen were most excellent as well. The man committed suicide in the early Sixties. Sigh. We lost a lot of good books to that.)

Sin City is based on a comic book by Frank Miller, one of the best artists/writers in the genre. He's the one who revitalised the Batman franchise with The Dark Knight Returns.

Normally, I can't get excited over movie adaptations of comic books. Either they're adequate, like Spiderman or the Tim Burton Batman movies. Or they really fucking suck like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

But Robert Rodriguez is directing this one along with Miller himself. Rodriguez had directed some pretty good movies; From Dusk til Dawn, El Mariachi, Deseprado; so I have high hopes for this one.

My link is to a funny essay entitled "50 Reasons Return of the Jedi Sucks." It just says what we all think...

Besides from pretty crappy scriptwriting, there is one major reason why SW part 1 to 3 sucks monkey's rear-end:

You already know how it will end. There is not even the pretense that there will be any surprises, which makes it just one long and dumb (and if I may say so, pretty amateurish) SFX reel. Prequels must be the lamest idea ever in the history of filmmaking.

I won't see part 3 until they are out of eveytthing else at my local renter.

I thought I was the only one who recognized the Fuzzies in the Ewoks. Will you marry me?

Let's just shack up for a while first. See if we're compatible.

I don't have a life, so I'm free this weekend. ;)

Although I know it will be a disappointment and a merchandising ploy with too many cute special FX, I still want to see how Annikan turns into Vader, dammit.

Geek patrol reporting for duty:

Everything you want to know about Starwars can be found on this site

Super Shadow

Look at the menu on the left hand side. It gives you a complete story line for episode 3. It also gives a whole lot of other stuff.

If you're wanting to be suprised, don't read it. It's very detailed.

Tried doing the spoiler tag.... hmm... trying again:

Ugh, took forever to get this edited because I keep losing my net connection.

Ok, disclaimer: I am a major Star Wars closet geek...

the prequels biggest problem is that George has no checks or balances. Everyone is afraid to tell him something is a bad idea. There have been some awesome things in these last two movies, but all the good stuff gets drowned out by JarJar , etc.

that said, I am holding out hopes for this one because George has to go darker. And because I think he may have been challenged as an artist by the reaction to Eps. 1 & 2.

and I still think that the Han Solo I grew up with never let's Greedo get off a fucking shot! Don't be PC George, tell the fucking story!

Read the Episode three story line in the link I provided. Episode 3 will be pretty dark. It will also have a PG-13 rating. All other Star wars are PG

I saw an interview with Lucas a few weeks ago. He said flat out that he wouldn't bring a kid under about 9 years old to the movie. He thinks it will be too intense for them

Here's an example of how dark it gets: Do you remember all of the jedi children in training in episode 2? Anakin kills all of them in episode 3.

Voting for monarchy... where else but the U.S

The new President of the traders has secretly been Jedi all along and then becomes Sith which is how he gets control of the clones to make them imperial troopers.

To get Anakin he obviously has to make him join the dark side by killing his wife. (the kids escape and are separated)

So how come the traders are divorced from the empire which included Leia's planet leaving The Sith only in command of the space army?

I'm pretty sure Harri Seldon is going to appear here somewhere to explain it all from his vault.

Alec Guiness will play all eight of the remaining Jedi (including CharlieH- sorry I mean Yoda) and Tony Randall will play the seven faces of the Sith (with jack klugman as ardoodeedoo)
