Hi everybody!

Hi, Dr. Nick!

Anyway, this is the OOC for a new thread set in the Star Trek universe. The cast is going to be small and is mostly completed but if you are interested in participating, please PM Armphid (me) and we'll talk it over.

The thread will be following the adventures and interpersonal relationships of the crew of the Federation Starship Randolph Carter. I do have plots and episodes in mind, complete with a general story arc but as this is an SRP most of the focus will be on the sexual escapades of the crew and the various aliens, etc. that they meet.

Most of the characters will be NPCs that will be shared between the RPers in the thread, though mostly controlled by me as I'm more or less in charge. That said, feel free to move them around, pitch in on scenes, create background sexual tension/fun, what have you. Except for the Captain, and of course, for other PCs.

The thread will be set in the Prime universe starting in early 2369 (6th Season TNG, 1st Season DS9) before the end of the conflict with the Cardassians and the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole. The PCs will be junior officers (unless there's a very good reason, no one will be above Lieutenant to start) on the USS Randolph Carter-C (NCC-1899-C). As the Carter is a small ship (crew of 80) even though the characters will be low ranked to start, they can (and should) still be in Command Staff positions.

I may put all of this in a more organized format in the future but for now, this'll do. Please post up your questions and let's discuss your ideas for other NPCs, adventures, things we want to have happen, etc.

So, here's the basics on the ship and the NPCs created for positions so far.

United Federation of Planets Starship Randolph Carter-C (NCC-1899-C)
Nova-Class Science Vessel/Explorer
Decks: 8
Crew Complement: 80
Speed: Warp 8 (Maximum)
Armaments: 11 Type X Phaser Arrays
3 Photon Torpedo Launchers (2 bow, 1 aft)
Defenses: Deflector Shields
Navigational Shields

The current Randolph Carter is the third Federation starship to bear that name. All of the Carters have been Science or Explorer ships and all have had a reputation for encountering strange things and being odd in and of themselves. Both of the previous vessels were reputed to be haunted, and the current Carter (on it's first post-shakedown mission) seems to be as well. Crew members have reported odd incidents and there is a "phantom crew member" who shows up on the crew logs; there is always one more member of the crew than can be physically accounted for on-board. No amount of work on the ship's computer or re-counting seems to alter this.

Current NPCs

Commander Eva Crowe - Commanding Officer, USS-Randolph Carter-C (NCC-1899-C)
- Eva Crowe is a handsome human woman in her late 40's with auburn hair and keen brown eyes. Commander Crowe is in excellent shape for her age and certainly qualifies as a cougar. She is addressed as "Captain" due to commanding the vessel though her rank is actually Commander. Commander Crowe enjoys exploration and diplomacy but favors direct and inventive solutions to problems. She has been vocal against many recent decisions of Starfleet Command, particularly the establishment of a DMZ with the Cardassians at the expense of Federation settlers. Many have observed this may be why she is only a Commander despite her experience and abilities.

Lieutenant Charles Morgan - 1st Officer, USS-Randolph Carter-C
- A good looking human male with somewhat rough hewn features and a brawny, muscular frame. Of African-American descent, Morgan is very serious and by-the-book when on duty. This is in contrast to his off-duty behavior in which he is extremely laid back and enjoys a good time.

Ensign Skaar - Doctor, USS-Randolph Carter-C (NCC-1899-C)
- A male Tellarite serving under Chief Medical Officer Seles; prone to arguing as a way to bond with others, like many Tellarites. Specialist in pathogens and immunization.

Ensign T'Sitak - Second Engineering Officer, USS Randolph Carter-C (NCC-1899-C)
- a female Vulcan serving under Chief Engineer Kratos. Consciously attempts to serve as a counter to his more intuitive and creative impulses.

Looks like things will be fun. I'm ready to go at anytime. Shall I go ahead and post character or wait? Mind if I do two different characters, to make things interesting?

I don't mind you playing two characters, no, since it's going to be a small cast and a lot of NPCs. I would say only post one at a time so that way no one feels that all of the "good" Command Staff positions are taken. Not that the characters have to be Command Staff, but it might help keep things simple.

Since I haven't said it yet; these are the Command Staff Positions available on the ship:

1st Officer/Executive Officer/Number One:
Chief Medical Officer
Chief of Engineering
Security Chief/Head of Security
Chief Science Officer
Chief of Operations

Non-Command Staff positions that would still be filled by officers when possible would be things like:

Navigation Officer
Tactical Officer
Ship's Counselor (probably also does something else on a ship this size as well, possibly in Medical)
Probably others that I can't think of right now.

And of course, there are tons of Technicians, Yeomen, and Crewmen who make up most of the ship's crew.

Ok, sounds good. I'll come up with something later this afternoon or evening.

Reserved for character post
(this is gonna be fun!!!)

EDIT: I'm calling dibs on the security position if no one objects????? PUH-LEEEEZE????

Oooh, if no one minds, can I have dibs on the Chief Medical Officer? If not, I have a second choice, but CMO is my first.

Yay half-Vulcan!

Hey all,

Here's a character post from me. Partly to provide a template, if people want to use it. Feel free to do more, of course, and no one has to do the metric stuff I did here either. I may have gone a little crazy into detail with his backstory and such, so please don't feel like you have to do as much as I have. I just thought it was fun.

Name: Kratos Idrani*
Species: Andorian
Gender: Male
Age: 25 (Born 2344)
Orientation: Bisexual
Height: 1.92 meters (6'4")
Weight: 90.72 kilograms (200lbs.)
Hair: Platinum white and straight, falling to just above his ears.
Eyes: Pale Green
Rank: Lieutenant (Junior Grade)
Assignment: Chief of Engineering, USS Randolph Carter-C

Appearance: Kratos is tall and strong with a powerful and athletic build. His skin is a rich royal blue, smooth over taut whip cord muscle, save for a few scars on his torso and arms. Like most Andorians, his body is hairless save for what is on his head, and has a pair of seven inch long antennae that protrude from his forehead. He has a handsome face with a somewhat roguish cast to his features and a ready grin.

Personality: Kratos throws himself fully into whatever he does with fierce enthusiasm. He's passionate and creative; rarely holding back on his thoughts, making great use of "Permission to speak frankly" and not always waiting for permission. He likes to quip and flirt; rarely without something to say. His passion for engineering is matched by his enjoyment of the Andorian warrior tradition, the young officer a skilled and wild fighter and marksman. He does follow the Andorian code of honor and that of the ushaan (a ritual Andorian duel prompted by insults to honor.).

History: Kratos was born on the premises of the prestigious Andorian Academy and like many of his people, felt the influence of the Federation and Starfleet early. While one of his mothers** was a member of Andoria's Imperial Guard, his other mother and fathers were all involved with Starfleet, one as an instructor at the Andoria's Starfleet Academy campus, and two serving in Starfleet, his mother Talas reaching the rank of Commander before her death in action at Wolf-359.

Even before entering school, Kratos got a first class education from his parents; learning martial arts, sciences, and more in addition to his classes. Entry into Starfleet Academy was almost a given for the young Andorian. Kratos showed an aptitude for taking initiative and invention, gravitating to engineering but also taking extra coursework in tactics and combat. He participated in a number of tournaments. Kratos' earned his promotion to Lt. (J.G) on his cadet cruise when the science vessel he was on was attacked by an Orion raider. The ship damaged and all but disabled, Kratos purposefully created a plasma explosion in the rear of a damaged warp nacelle to turn it into a massive projectile that destroyed the raider. He was then assigned to the shakedown cruise of the Randolph Carter-C; staying on afterward as the new Chief Engineer.

*Idrani is the name of Kratos' clan, not his immediate family. It's generally only used with his name on ceremonial occasions; the Andorian usually addressed as Lieutenant Kratos or Mr. Kratos.
**Andorians traditionally marry in quads rather than pairs, two men and two women. Children of anyone in the marriage are considered to be the children of all four parents.

Okay, here goes. I had a hard time deciding between taking the CMO and the ExO, but I like the idea of my lass being the doctor. Well, not The Doctor, but you know.

Name: Seles
Species: Vulcan (Vulcan/Betazoid, but she's unaware of that)
Gender: Female
Age: 33
Orientation: Sexual labels and activity are not logical. However, if you insist on using such terms, bi-curious.
Height: 1.7m (5'6")
Weight: 50kg (110.2lbs)
Hair: Dark brown, straight, very long and usually braided; straight bangs across her forehead long enough to brush her eyebrows.
Eyes: Black
Rank: Lieutenant (Junior Grade)
Assignment: Chief Medical Officer, USS Randolph Carter-C

Appearance: Seles is average height for a Vulcan, and slender. Her body is mature, but while she is obviously female, her breasts are little more than a handful; her posterior, on the other hand, is generous, rounded, and firm. She has trouble finding uniform pants that fit, and thus usually wears the acceptable Starfleet dress uniform. She has the dark, sleek hair, pointed ears, and arched eyebrows of the average Vulcan, but her eyes are black instead of dark brown (a sign of her split parentage, but not noticeable enough to draw attention.

Personality: Seles tries to be logical - she tries very hard. But her telepathy is so strong that being logical all the time is very difficult; everyone else's emotions banging against her head all the time makes it hard to push them aside when decision time comes. She doesn't like to see other people hurt, which was a large part of her choice to become a doctor.

History: Raised by her mother and her "Uncle Martin", Seles was a generally happy child. She wasn't as strong as the other Vulcan children, but her mental powers far out-stripped them. Frequent tests were done to see if she was some sort of a new evolution for the Vulcan race. Since Uncle Martin was her doctor, and also her father, her dual race was never revealed as the cause. He did, however, instill in her a desire to help people, and tried to show her how important and good emotions could be.

That education lead to her making several decisions that were more emotion than logic. And that lead to her application to join the Vulcan Science Fleet being rejected. She was unsuitable for their exploration, despite her other excellent qualities, because of her lapses into emotional thinking.

Smarting from the rejection and being unable to show it, Seles applied to join Starfleet Academy, and was accepted. Shortly after her graduation summa cum laude, Seles saved the life of the USS Jenner's Executive Officer. She was personally thanked by the commanding officer, and received her promotional paperwork the next day.

I am a little sorry in the delay posting of my two chars. Things got kinda busy for me. I will do my best to get them posted in the next day or so.

Character 1

Name: Sandra Orteg
Species: Human
Age: 24
Orientation: Bi-Curious
Hair: Blonde, hanging down to the middle of her back, but she usually wears it up in a bun or ponytail when she is on shift.
Eyes: Light blue
Rank: Ensign
Assignment: Security team Alpha, USS Randolph Carter-C

Appearance:picture attached, as I have to set up a new picture hosting site thingie. :p She usually wears the Star Fleet dress since it provides her with the most movement.

Personality: Friendly and Outgoing. She enjoys making friends and easy to get along with most of the time. She does have the occasional klutz streak, but not often. She is very adventurous and open to trying new things.

History: Her mother, Catherine Orteg, served on the first Randolph Carter as the tactical officer and her father was a weapons trainer at the Star Fleet Academy. Sandra was board aboard the ship and spent her first six years living in space. She was then sent to live with her father on Earth. She had kept in contact with her mother as much as she could.

As a child, Sandra began learning marital arts and weapons training on various weapons such as the bo, katana, and spear. She was a natural at the arts, earning her 4th degree black belt by the time she was able to enter the Academy. She is also a natural with phasers and rifles.

While in the Academy, Sandra did above average on her studies, earning a spot in the top ten in her class. She spent her free time by mostly helping out with security at the Academy. She earned her assignment through her schoolwork, family relations, and skills in the field.

The characters look good so far. JadeKnight, I'm assuming that Ensign Orteg is part of the Security team but not the Security Chief as Zydrate had called that position, correct? Sandra is likely the number two security officer on the ship. Does that work for everyone?

I'm so sorry for not posting, I will get something by tonight! :D

Hey, how about an android for my other char, to make things different and interesting?

Other people should feel free to chime in and add your thoughts as I want this to be a collaborative thread/effort. I personally don't like the idea of an android. Androids in Trek are SO far superior to everyone else and can do any/everything that it seems almost cheesy. They're super smart, super strong, super fast, super tough, and can do any task immediately and expertly without even trying. I want the characters to have strengths and weaknesses and be able to play off of each others traits.

That said, if you have a really good idea for it beyond just being an android and/or if the others have a differing opinion, I'd still be willing to listen to the concept.

That's cool. Just been trying to flesh out another char. Tho I have been busy with two jobs lately and some other stuff.

I can understand and sympathize. I hope you can get some time to relax, man. I would ideally like to get this started before October. I do know that people are busy though and I totally respect that.

I'm also kind of putting out an open call here for things people might want to see in the thread. Places, characters, races, etc. Obviously I have my own ideas but I do want to try and make this collaborative. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Name: Nicole (Mason) Taes
Species: Trill
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Orientation: Bisexual
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 120lbs.
Hair: Auburn
Eyes: Bright Blue
Rank: Lieutenant (Junior Grade)
Assignment: Chief of Security, USS Randolph Carter-C

Appearance: Nicole stands around 5'7" (give or take a few centimeters) but with her attitude, she seems a lot taller. Her auburn hair is always worn in a ponytail or a french braid when on duty. When off duty, she likes to let it hang loosely and in waves down her shoulders and back. She has the distinctive marks of a Trill that few have seen exactly how far the markings go.

Personality: Before she was joined, Nicole used to be very open and friendly. Although she's still arrogant and very selfish but since the joining, she's become what one would characterize as a 'bitch'. She's also still confident in what she does.

Nicole doesn't like backing down from challenges but has learn to live with knowing when she can't win a situation.

History: Nicole was born in New York City, Earth to William and Marel, both were killed when the shuttle they were in exploded due to a malfunction on board.

When a family friend, her father's best friend and what Nicole could call an uncle, Joran Taes, was involved in a black market smuggling ring and fatally injured when a deal had gone wrong. Nicole decided to returned to Trill and it was then she found out about her Joran's real life. Upon his death, the two were headed to a nearby moon and the shuttle's EMH transferred the Taes symbiont to Nicole after she disabled the EMH's ethical subroutines. Once the procedure was completed, Nicole deleted the EMH program and when they arrived at their allotted location, she crash landed the shuttle, barely making it out alive.

~=~=Taes Symbiont=~=~
Lesna Pahl becomes Lesna Taes. The first host of the Taes symbiont and a doctor of psychology. The joining went simple enough. Lesna, having been a highly educated individual suited the Taes symbiont perfectly. Lesna went on to win many awards in her line of work. She taught at the Academy on Trill. She had been married to Emil, an unjoined Trill. Lesna lived a well meaningful life. She died of natural causes and the symbiont was transferred to another host just shortly after Lesna's death. The two were joined for 60 years. Personality wise, Lensa loved life. Her first love was her husband and her second love was her profession. She relished how she could read people's minds without actually having to be a telepath. As far as looks, she had the standard markings of a Trill and she almost always wore her blonde hair short.

Candia Salyus becomes Candia Taes, the second host of the Taes symbiont. Candia was part of the security force on Trill, who ensured the safety of the planet and its residents. Candia often volunteered for dangerous assignments and her last uncover mission went terribly wrong. Candia posed as a 'buyer' in order to infiltrate a drug ring. The leader of the group, J'lan, discovered Candia's plan and promptly took care of her by torturing her to death. The symbiont was nearly destroyed but later saved and after 3 months, it was rehabilitated... in other words "cured" at least to the Symbiosis Committee. Before her demise, Candia and Taes had been joined for nearly 5 years.

Zevik Gann becomes Zevik Taes, the third host for the Taes symbiont. For the first year of his joining Zevik, a fighter pilot for the Trill Navy, did not suffer from any ill side affects or memories. About 2 years into the joining, Zevik begins to have reoccurring dreams of what Candia went through in the last moments of her life. These dreams finally get the better of Zevik as the Taes symbiont starts rejecting his host, causing Zevik to die within in a matter of hours. Up until that time, the two were joined for 3 years. Again, Taes was taken to the 'Baths of Trill' where noting was found to be wrong with the symbiont. The Symbiosis Committee blamed themselves for Zevik's rejection to the symbiont saying the two were never compatible in first place, but again, they never informed the next host of certain 'defects'.

Joran Maier becomes Joran Taes, the fourth host for the Taes symbiont. Joran strives hard to meet the requirements in order to become a suitable host for a symbiont. Little does he know that he'd be receiving the Taes symbiont when he is finally chosen as a host. Joran chose to become a civilian engineer after he was joined and started his studies with Trill's Corps of Engineers. Those plans changed quickly soon after when he decided to explore the galaxy on his own... losing touch with his family and friends, becoming somewhat of a loner. Joran Taes associates himself with several different crime 'pirates' in his journeys, often times putting his and the symbiont's life in danger. It's not till 7 years into the joining that the Taes symbiont acts up yet again, causing Joran to have reoccurring dreams of the past hosts... the deaths of Candia and Zevik, the successful life of Lesna, her marriage and career. During one of his 'runs', Joran decides to do a cargo run for a local 'gang' who's needing someone to transport some specialty phaser canons used for a civil war between two planets near Trill. During his last run, his shuttle it attacked and Joran is mortally injured.

Nicole Mason is the current host of the Taes symbiont. The two are somewhat compatible, but ever since the joining, Nicole's attitude and demeanor has change drastically. Although she has failed to inform anyone of the joining, there are some 'side affects' she does suffer from. Lack of sleep, short tempered. She often at times can be nice, but the more sleep she lacks, the easier she becomes irritated. Nicole does often dream of the lives of the previous host, sometimes being the person in the dreams and other times, witnessing the dream as it unfolds before her.

*****************************************
OOC: Let me know if this is acceptable or not via PM :) It's not set in stone so I can always change what needs to be changed. OH! And I'm sorry about the delay, things/life has been CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY!!! :D

I should have the second char up within a couple of days. Maybe we could get a visit from Q or one of his race. Might be fun and different.

Ok, here's the second char. Hopefully he'll pass.

Name: Thomas Klonger
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Orientation: Straight
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Rank: Lieutenant (Junior Grade)
Assignment: Navigational Officer, USS Randolph Carter-C

Appearance: Attached pic. Hehe, 100 points if you can guess who it is, but it should be obvious.

Personality: Thomas is friendly, but likes to be a wise-ass at times. He does his job well, but does complain to get attention. He is confident in his skills and everything that he does.

History: Thomas was born to Commander Jack Klonger, the commander of the first USS Randolph Carter-A, and Sarah Klonger, the former chief Medical officer at Starfleet Academy. Thomas grew up around the Academy, flying shuttles when he turned 16. It was mostly practice under supervision, but he was one of the more skilled pilots by the time he entered the Academy.

When he graduated, he was recruited into the crew of the USS Randolph Carter-B. He was an navigational ensign, learning all he could. The commander was impressed by his abilities, and assigned him as the main shuttle pilot for some black op missions in the demilitarized zone that the crew had been assigned by Star Fleet Command for a short period of time. This caused most of his current Star Fleet career to be classified and viewable only by Captain rank or higher.

To get his Lt. rank, Thomas had to agree to transfer to USS Randolph Carter-C. He did so willingly.

---------------------------------------------------------

Let me know if he is good or not.

Patience, young Skywalker. Wait, that's a different universe entirely.

All right, we've got the basic cast together (at least the initial cast) so I don't see any reason not to get things started. Now, unfortunately I'm working an 11 hour shift today so I probably will not have the wherewithal to get things going today. I will try to get the first post up but I make no promises.

However I can tell you what I have in mind. We'll be starting off with the ship leaving Earth (Starbase 001) and heading out to it's first assignment. The first mission will be exploratory; sent in to fully chart and explore unknown systems in the hopes of finding new resources as the Federation's expended a lot during the Cardassian conflict and Borg encounters. The sectors they're going to are unclaimed but aren't far from Romulan space. (dun-dun-DAAA!)

Not to spoil anything but I will be giving some time for character interaction/development/random hookups/what have you before I start dropping plot events.

Sounds like fun Obi-wan...oh wait, I meant sensei...I think. Talk about confusing. :p

http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?p=38754226#post38754226

The IC is up! Check it out and start posting.

Note, as I did that if you want to introduce a new NPC or two, feel free. Unless stated otherwise, NPCs are free to share and be used by anyone. Think of them as our supporting cast members.

My first post was to establish character and setting but feel free to do none of that with yours if you want. Want to start out just having a talk with the captain or XO? Want to start off already in bed with some attractive crewmen (of either gender), feel free! Very free! ;) And yes, I did steal the modular weaponry from the new Star Trek movie but too bad! It's neat and it makes sense with all the crazy Trek tech to have it.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in this thread; I think we have a lot of potential.
