My suggestion is to start reading the Top List stories on this site. That should fill the six months.

There are resources on this site for writers. Look at the thread 'Welcome Authors! Please Read' at the top of the Author's Hangout.

Why have you chosen that subject matter? Think about your motives and what you want to achieve. Then we might be able to help more.

I agree with these exact steps, though I am not sure of the order.

1) Read a lot.

2)Think about why you want to write a play about this topic. Why exactly?

I think most men are interested in lesbianism because it gives them a way to explore pure female sexuality, which of course fascinates them. It can be harder for some straight men to write from a woman's point of view when she is attracted to a man, because they don't quite get what she finds attractive. But make her attracted to another woman and, bam, they get that!

Also, besides reading lesbian erotica, read non-fiction lesbian stuff. Take a look at Out and On Our Backs and other gay/lesbian magazines. Read a couple non-fiction books by lesbian woman about being lesbian women. If you are particularly interested in first times between two women there are a couple volumes of women recounting exactly their first times which I know I can find in my local B&N. There are also lots of lesbian, non-porn, sites that do community building, which you can read. And, of course, if you can, speak to people. It might be very hard to talk to a woman before you've written anything. After all, what would you ask, "so, Ms. Lesbian, my name is Frank; can you tell me about your erotic dreams?" She is most likely to slap you. Men getting turned on by two porn stars going after each other with strap-on dildos gets old pretty quick. But after you've written a draft and she can tell that you are seriously trying to understand your fellow human beings, you might be able to get her to read it and give comments.

All of the reading is to give yourself a background of knowledge to write from. For writing, I think the self-reflection is the key. Just why do you want to write on this topic? If you can figure that out in a specific way you will be headed down the right road.
