I can't speak to the comfort, having not used one. However, the idea would be to have the rubber sheet (like you use for bedwetters) under a normal set of sheets. After sex in which she douses the linens, you get up, strip off the soaked sheets (and the rubber one too, probably) and then remake the bed with dry sheets. The mattress stays dry, which is the entire purpose.
