As far as I know , Daylight saving time was started by Benjamin Franklin in the 1700's. It wasnt officially adopted by the U.S. and international governments until until the 1930's because of the oil and energy savings during the depression and WWII

I hate DST as much as anyone but how about fall back time?

I for one LOOOVE staying up and living that same hour twice. For several years it was a great time to spend that hour with the right someone and then set the clock back and start fresh all over.

DST in Europe

I have yet to figure out why we European folks make this change to DST a week ahead of the States. Does anyone know the logic here? All the time differences are screwed up for a week until our American friends go to DST and then we are back to normal.

Question only worth losing an hour's sleep over though...
