I'm think the protagonist was snowed in somewhere (intentionally? maybe a weather station or science experiment? avalanche watch?) all winter, so when the high country snow retreats and (s)he come out to civilization, the sap is really running.

Other than the possibility of matching up TWO people who hibernated, I have no other ideas how to make this more than a gimmick to set up whatever freaky sex follows...

Why stop at two? Spin-off from Kerouac's DESOLATION ANGELS with a trio or so of lonely wilderness lookouts stuck in their towers all winter. They talk by radio. Talk that skirts the subject of sex, just barely. When the snowpack melts and their replacements arrive, the radio buddies get together for a horny blow-out.

Twist: Some outsider has overheard their conversations and shows up for the party.

Another twist: A sasquatch awakens from hibernation and shows up for the gathering.

Twist-o-rama: None of the lookouts are quite the genders they seemed on the radio.

Usually winter is the best time to move about in the north. Everything is frozen over. Look at Ice Road Truckers. Rest of the year you have to fly in. You could wait quite a while for lake to freeze over and get planes in, if no ready landing strip available. El Nino conditions trap someone in Alaska, NWT, Nunavut or Quebec Ungava Peninsular. Remote prospector camp!

Newfoundland isolated fishing ports in the past were isolated until spring allowed frozen sea bays to open up. Iqaluit gets first shipment of goods in late June, early July. Ices over again in late Sept, early Oct.

Semi-civilized southern mountain regions could get snow bound enough for a couple of months.

What about one of those Mars or Eco-dome projects? How about military personnel stationed in Alert?
